Moonridge 2007

Feb 26, 2007 16:40

Are there any writers out there reading my LJ who might be interested in donating a new story to the Moonridge Annual Online Auction?

"But," you say. "I'm not in "The Sentinel" fandom."

Yes, the Auction was originally conceived by "The Sentinel" fandom to support Garett Maggart's participation in the Moonridge Animal Park's summer celebrity event to raise money for the zoo. Over the years as TS authors have moved on to other fandoms, the scope of the donations for the Auction has expanded.

A story by an author who's in Smallville, Supernatural, Due South, SG1, SGA, B5, Heroes, QAF, Prison Break or any of the other fandoms too numerous to name would be just as welcome a contribution as a TS story. You could attract bidders who would have no interest in a TS story.

"But I don't want to write a story to order," you complain. "That's not how I work." You don't have to. Knock one of your favorite plot bunnies over the head and write what you want to donate.

"I don't write epic length stories. I can barely manage 500 words." Every little bit helps. Even a minimum bid for a ficlet adds to the total raised for the zoo. And 100% of the money our donations raise goes to the zoo.

"Who would bid on my story? I'm not a BNF who is recced on all the lists. I don't get lots of comments on my stories." How many of us are BNFs? You never know. You might just be someone's favorite author after all.

"Okay, you convinced me. What do I have to do?" alyburns has created moonridge_2007 for official details, rules and announcements. I'll be pimping the auction, passing along announcements, egging on bidders and begging for your participation.

Donations begin March 19.

The auction is May 19 - June 2.

The Moonridge event is June 23.

Help us beat last year's total of nearly $19K.
