Wish List Meme

Dec 08, 2006 12:13

I've put off doing this meme because I really didn't have much to wish for this year. I've had a good year.

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

I don't have anything to ask for like DVDs or the like, because I manage to get those things for myself.

1. Time to write. I've been so busy in the past 6 months that my muses can't even catch up to me. I want to be able to finish my current WIPs in time to write something worthwhile for Moonridge 2007 -- before the event.

2. Covers for any of my stories.

3. Some hints from dolimir_k on the "missing years" in the Mercyverse timeline to make it easier to write 'chrons for those time periods. (That way I can fulfill her wish for more 'chrons.)

4. Inspiration.

5. More fic to read from everyone during the next year.

6. Feedback on my writing, even if it's not complimentary. Actually, the more constructive the criticism, the better.

7. Ideas for a new layout for my journal. "Expressions" is a bit limited and I just can't come up with a good idea for a manip for a new banner on my own.

8. For the "Ladies of Slash" -- old and new -- to be able to get together again in 2007 for another weekend with fannish overtones, but a different and fun vacation together as the primary motivation. There are 48 more states to visit, Ladies. One of them has to have something to keep us amused for a weekend.

9. Another chance at co-writing with someone, whether in a round robin or in planned out fic.

10. Health, happiness, love, joy and lots of goodies for my family, friends and flist.
