Where the fuck did Apple get the idea that ANYONE would only want to use their iPOD with just one PC? What if you've got a laptop and a desktop? Or a home computer and a work computer?
Or two desktop computers AND a laptop at work and a media center PC at home?
What if your kids all have computers and you just get to use one of them occasionally?
Or if you work out of three offices with a different PC assigned to you whenever you are there?
I don't want to play my iTunes on any of the PCs. I just want to be able to plug the beast into an available USB port load the damn software, charge the iPOD and maybe add a new song -- without having to recreate my entire library.
Music is expensive even at 99 cents a tune or ripping from your old CDs (my time's valuable!). I don't want anyone else's music, just what I paid for, damnit!
Well, I did find at least one loophole -- maybe two. iTunes lets you burn a CD from the library. You can then take those CDs to the other PC and import them. (Fucking waste of my time, but at least I won't lose the songs I bought.)
And then there's exporting the library, I'm not sure if I can import it into my other PC's library without overwriting everything. I'll find out tonight when I get home.
And if all else fails, I'll download the manuals from the Apple site and see if I can wring an answer out of them.
ETA: Thanks to
vampsarecool my iPod now has all of my music from both PCs and my blood has cooled down to a usual work day simmer. *snicker*
