One last revue and return to Tokyo :(

Today I understood a bit more of the plot of JIN after I researched the manga and TV series last night. There's a lot more in English on the TV series than the manga. The Takarazuka version combines the plots from several episodes and some details in the subplots are different. Since I don't know the manga I can't say if it's just zukafied or if the zuka version is just closer to the manga than the TV series.

What the English plot synopsis doesn't tell us is that Jin is transported back to the Edo period after finding a "carcinogenic fetus" in the head of a patient. (There's also a really creepy video sequence showing that... thing. With eyes.) o.O Heh, I guess they don't want to overburden the foreigners with too much weirdness. :P

So Jin as a doctor with modern-day medical knowledge starts treating the people of the Edo period. He builds some kind of hospital, produces Penicillin, treats cholera and beriberi and befriends Sakamoto Ryoma.
With his knowledge of the future he knows about Ryoma's fate and the Tokugawa demise. But whenever he is about to spill some of that knowledge, he gets a headache. Sometimes also accompanied by the fetus speaking up, but not always and I have no idea why it's not constant.

The underlying conflict is rooted in his knowledge of the future. In the TV series someone he saved with his medical skills later dies in a fire (a notion of history being unchangeable) and he wonders if he should continue his work and save lives even if they may be lost later after all.

There's also a fire in the zuka version, but I couldn't understand if anybody specific died in that fire. The name from the TV series doesn't appear in the Yukigumi line up. Also, in the TV series the fire was collateral damage of a fight going on between pro and contra Shogunate forces. These forces don't appear by name in the Yukigumi version (except for shinsengumi) and I have no idea who or what caused that fire.

But we have firefighters in the Yukigumi version!! One of them is Tomomin who saves Seshi!Pickpocket from the flames and when one of Jin's people tends to Seshi'd injuries, Tomomin is there to hold her hand. ♥ :D (Yes, I pay attention to what matters. :P)

I have also identified two scenes to watch for ad-libs. One is Oba-chan in the "hospital", talking to Jin, and the other is Chigi!Ryoma disguised as rice farmer. That was pretty funny today.

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE SKY STAGE SENSHURAKUU VERSION!! (Sorry, Kimu fans.)

Also today someone's underclassmen rushed in shortly before the show started. I'm terrible with babies, so I have no idea who it was. I'll have to remember to get the latest Otome tomorrow.

I liked Gold Spark even better today. I really, really like the music and the choreography and Micchan as Hades. :D

I also loved Micchan in Jin. I loved her in Koitengu because she was "really there" and she also seemed to enjoy her role as the Magistrate in Jin. I mean, I didn't understand an awful lot (read: nothing), but I understood that she put a lot of positive energy into this role and made it shine. ♥

There are really some people I do like better in Nihonmono, and Micchan is one of them. (Hiromi was another. And it looks good on Mattsu, too. :P)

Back to Conga (which, I have to admit, I liked better than Gold Spark).

There's one for Erik:

Two for me:

(Yep, I'm dangerously close to defecting. :P)

And two for the rest:

(I just skipped through the CONGA DVD and I noticed again how Tomu's dancing seems so... effortless.)

(Not locking this post as these are not scans but photographs of photographs. I'd still appreciate if they're not distributed.)

Also utena1409 is a dangerous friend to have. She showed me the Taka-an today and a box with tons of 20-yen-photographs and -postcards. When I carried my loot to the cashier she predicted it'll be around 50 pieces and the count was actually 45. :P 40 of them of Mami and there are a few in there that are really precious, like a stage picture of Mami in her first Bow Hall show. ♥

Best thing is that I paid less than 1000 Yen for 45 pictures. :P On Yahoo!Auctions that doesn't even cover the shipping & handling.

trippy trip
