It's not just about basketball

Well....the state tournament is over, and once again the girls didn't make it past Friday night. The ironic thing is that they had a much better attitude/we're gonna win mentality than last year, so I think it came as more of a shock to them. But afterwards, the head coach gave them a very teachable moment. She made a big black dot on the white dry erase board, and asked them what was one the board. Of course, the black dot, but it was all about perspective. Because not only was there a black dot, but there was also a white board, that took up much more space than the black dot. Meaning that this one game blanched in comparison with everything else that the season was about. She then asked everyone, coaches, players, and managers alike, to come up and write on the white part something special that they remembered or could take from the season. It was inspiring, and comments ranged from "family" to "all our inside jokes and good times" to "my first technical."

But my favorite..."For making me smile, and reminding me that it's not just about basketball, it's about life."

A great take-home message, and a great way to get motivated and start off the week after Eastern's spring break!

Spending time in Bowling Green was fun, we went out and had a good time, and I think I got closer to some of the kids as well as the school officials, which is a good feeling.

Here's to a great week and a fun St. Patrick's Day!!

I am half Irish, after all!
