So tomorrow before my show, I've got "Sequence Auditions." Basically these are the auditions that determine if I move on into the upper classes of the theater program. I think I'm pretty well prepared, although I don't like one of my monologues. The issue I'm currently having is the choice of song. I'm stuck as far as what I should do. I've got a solid minute to sing, so time shouldn't be an issue. I'm torn between three: "Tonight at Eight" from She Loves Me, the second verse; "Sit Down, You're Rockin the Boat" from Guys and Dolls, first verse, and a middle portion from "Heil Myself" out of The Producers. I'm pretty sure I won't do "Sit down," just because I did it for these auditions last year (you can also audition for the copious amount of scholarships they give out - hint: italicized words are sarcastic.) "Tonight at Eight" clocks in at around 50 seconds, as does "Heil Myself." Oh well. I guess I'll work on both, and see which one is better by tomorrow night. Keep my success in your prayers, people, or I'll hunt you down! I've seen where you live!
Saw the movie again today with Chad and Lorene. They liked it, so that's good. I, too, enjoyed it immensely. I've determined the two quibbling factors I've got with the film. If you haven't seen it and don't want to ruin it for yourselves, look away. Official SPOILER ALERT, this is, right here. Ok, both my gripes have to do with then end of the movie. The first is a two-parter, as the first part affects the second. Again, spoiler alert, and so forth. I do not think Arthur should have squashed those mice. The way the book wraps things up is much more... well, it leaves it more open for a sequel. There is a way that they could have pulled it off, however. With the death of the mice bodies, the pan-dimensional beings themselves should have returned to their home in their normal form, where they would follow the text from the book itself. The discussion of how they'll have to make up a question on their own now, and eventually choosing one Arthur actually throws out in the film, "How many roads must a man walk down?" Then they would do a dance. The second part that bugs me is the fact that they actually finish the Earth Mark 2. It should have been scrapped. The mice should have figured out what to do, call Slarty, and say "scrap it. We don't care anymore," thouroughly angering Slarty, after all his hard work on the fjords just to see them blown up again, but it would have been better than recreating Earth anew, and, to top it off, having them continue it from where it was before it was destroyed. I mean, if it's not destroyed, what's to keep it from finishing it's program and producing a question? If they wanted to do a sequel that followed the book, they'd have to have the new Earth demolished again. That's the whole dang point!! My second major gripe, less major than the first, is the last line. Marvin is heard to say, as the Heart of Gold flies off, "Not that anyone cares about what I say, but the Restaurant is at the other end of the Universe." This is a problem because, as anyone who has read the second book can tell you, the Restaurant's location in the Universe is more of a when than a where. It exists at the time in which the Universe is coming to an end. That's right, Doomsday is the main floorshow. So, saying it's at the "other end" would mean that the Restaurant has become something on the edge of infinity (horribly wrong), or that the Heart of Gold had gone back in time to the Big Bang, only to find the Big Bang Burger Bar, which isn't nearly as impressive. Oh well. Other than those two things, I love this movie. It's a love-minor quibble relationship.
I've gotten a crapload of new Hitchhiker's Guide icons this week. I've been trying new ones out, and I want your input on which to keep. Ok? None of this "I ask a question and get ignored" crap, you bastards.
I haven't talked about videogames in a while, and that's a shame, really. I haven't actually beaten anything since God of War, however. Still trying to beat that one on very hard, and I'm also playing Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat. That'll be beat by next week, however, so don't you worry. I need a job, because there are so many good games coming out in June, and ones that are already out. Oh well. Soon enough, I'll be nineteen, and then I'll be rolling in the benjamins. But for now, here's a bit of me gettin' back in the swing of things: A P.A. Comic!
