Love Resolution Letter

Watching:
- I wish someone would watch Carnivale
This show has the most ridiculously incredible mythologies of any series I have ever experienced. And that kept me going for a good while. And then the CHARACTERS. The series writers never do a disservice to their characters; even single-episode, write-off characters are interesting, complex, well-developed and just plain fascinating. This series is so unloved and I'm not sure why - the mythology could easily cross-over with Buffy or Twin Peaks or Lost - possibly all at once(which tell you just how complex and interesting it is).
This series also has one of my very favorite ships/ot3s of all time. Which I'm not going to tell you.
- I wish someone would watch Alias
Sydney Bristow's strength puts Buffy to shame. I love Buffy. I think she is fantastic. And - to be fair - I have not yet finished this series completely. But Sydney's writers are kinder to her in many ways. If you love family narratives and bad ass women - this series is going to hit that kink.
- I wish someone would watch LOST
I love this show like burning. I also hate it. I know a lot of people started and stopped with this series. And I understand why - there were moments when I wanted to give up, throw in the towel. And now that it's all said and done: all I want to do is talk about it. All the time. More people should want to talk about this series. And not just for what it did well - but also for what it did wrong.
Wrong: it's treatment of female characters - discussion for days
Right: Delicious treatment and interrogation of Narrative, Perspective, and the Formation of Identity, Society, Reality, etc.
It's beautiful, really.
- I wish someone would watch a korean drama (negotiable - ask for a genre)
I just want more people in this love with me.
Reading:
- I wish someone would read His Dark Materials
There is nothing more lovely than this series. I ... there are no words. Trust me.
- I wish someone would read Cornelia Funke's Ink-books
So ... these are novels about a book-binder and his precocious, book-loving daughter. The first in the set of three involves characters from books coming into our world. In the next two, the daughter and her father get trapped in a novel.
WHAT ABOUT THAT ISN'T PURE LOVE?
*** both series are delicious audiobooks as well!
- I wish someone would read Niels & Gang (or any Humon comic)
Niels is a gangster involved in a monogamous threesome with a married couple. He's evil and awful. He stalks people. He kills people. He also is a giant flirt - turning straight men bicurious everywhere he goes. This comic is love incarnate - with blood and gore thrown in. Not for the weak of heart, for anyone not interested in undertones of racial politics, or for anyone who is adverse to sexual promiscuity.
Humon has other comics that are just as lovely - her Countries of the World comic is a delight (but I only ever understand half of what is going on - one comic sends me to wikipedia for at least a half hour).
Basically - this woman should be worshipped.
Listening:
- I wish someone would listen to "The Other Lost Podcast" (my most selfish wish)
This is my podcast. And I selfishly want more listeners so that I have more people to talk to. Also - I think that we have some brilliant moments. I not only want to share LOST with someone - I want to share my ridiculous amount of devotion to this show with someone.
- I wish someone would listen to Podcastle
Because it is a short-story podcast centered around the fantasy genre. I feel as though I should indoctrinate everyone into the love that this series has to offer. (I also love Pseudopod - because the host gives the most heart-warming and tear-jerking pep talks)
This is the love I want to share this year!
