[personal] stolen memes

Because I've been avoiding the internet and my writing responsiblities in lieu of making really elaborate cards and knitting socks like there's an impending apocalypse (though I have spent the last three months with Mormons, so maybe their doomsday efforts are rubbing off on me) here's a couple of memes to get me back on my computer::

I HAVE seen it!! I ate it up, it's so good!

I have... nothing substantial to say though? My brain is really mushy.

I can relate to your mushy brain. We will discuss things when we both have brain. I believe this will happen.

Friend. My mushy brain tho. I feel like two years of teaching remedial English totally trained my brain to go in one direction, and now that I'm finished, I have like zero desire to re-awaken all the dormant parts. I'm still in a "fire pretty" place.

my confidence is totally shaken no lies no lies

When you figure out how to solve mushy brain syndrome, please let me know?!

Those socks look seriously awesome.

I love the idea of a "Better Me" project. I also hope you do sign up for the zombie run. That sounds like it would be a helluva good time.

oh... the zombierun is actually an app? I'm doing the couch to 5k version. if you click on the link, you can see how it works approximately. it basically is like an audio game that you run to like a video game.

Oh! I think my friend Sabrina used to do that one. She loved it.

But there are also actually zombie runs where you wear flags around your waist and people dressed like zombies try to "eat your brains" by taking flags from you.

Oh! Yes! I'm very excited about these socks omg.

This app is such fun, friend. It's like being inside of a video game, I should really be more devoted to it than I am. This is my fourth attempt at actually doing it. AND! I have seen those real-life zombie runs! For most, you can pay to be a runner, OR you can pay a discounted fee to dress up as a zombie first, shamble after people, and then run the track at the end - which I hear is a significantly more enjoyable experience. I REALLY want to be fit enough to do one someday.

How is your aunt?

I’ve been eyeing the Fitbit. Is it treating you well?

DID YOU SEE THE LATEST FDTD EP?? THE SANTANICO FEELS.

lol, Carrie/Brody. Keep your wits about you, friend.

re: the Engelsfors trilogy - I’m coming.

I hadn’t read that Dawn&Spike fic of yours before!! PUT ME IN THAT UNIVERSE.

And I would hazard a guess that if you were to look at anything I’ve written, there is always that interrogation of narrative and narrative function lurking beneath the angsty poesy mess of words that I churn out on the regular.

Speak.

My aunt is doing well. The radiation treatments are over, so she just has a few weeks to recover, her skin is actually doing really well even if she complains about it a lot and she's really lucky, according to her doctors. A couple people have completely freaked her out about the hormone treatment and so she's trying to refuse it, which is ... difficult to watch? But she's feeling a lot better, not so chemo-weak as she was when I first got here. Thanks so much for asking ( ... )

I'm so glad radiation hell is over. ♧

ngl I'm interested in the Fitbit mostly for the sleep app. But if it's not worth it then boo!!

HIT ME UP, MOFO.

Soon.

I have to deal with application bsns today, but to read! BLESS THE DENNIS.

Me too. Radiation wasn't as hellish as chemo was, but it was EVERY DAY driving to the nearest "city" and that really took a toll on her morale ( ... )

Haha, honestly? I'm impressed that you're avoiding fandom and knitting socks. I WISH I COULD DO EITHER OF THOSE THINGS, but I also wish I could do those things without using any effort which is why it's never going to happen.

I'm flirting with watching Sense8, because for the first time in, like, five months, I've actually watched more than 5 minutes of TV and continued to want to watch? (Though this is probs because I was trying to avoid doing assignments, which really need to finish stat or I'm going to fail my year). The ~next things on my to-do fandom list are to finish watching Daredevil and read Archangel's Enigma by Nalini Singh, which is apparently the best of the bunch.

You should def add me to your liveblog. It'll give me something to do in the unpredictable down-times even if I don't always see the messages immediately.

& I am seeing you go through Sandman. I love that you're loving it!

KNITTING IS SO USEFUL ROSA. Knitting can be done while (a) watching tv; (b) listening to audiobooks; (c) reading

(gurrrrl do your assignments!!!)

Oh! Daredevil is such a treat! BUT SENSE8!!!! I HAVE TO KNOW WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SENSATE?!

And I have the Archangel series on my tablet, so let me know if they are worth reading?

lol okay I can keep you Mormon updated. (Spoilers: this week at Church I learned that Depression is an illness that can lead to insanity and also leads to porn addiction and that women are only useful to men because of LUST::
A: the Lord gave young men a strong sexual drive because otherwise they wouldn't get married
B: Yes. Because they don't need us. without their lust, we couldn't create
Me: o_O)

I have vol 5-10 sitting on my shelf just waiting for me to put down these socks and start reading.

I've only watched those ten minutes before I was too tired to stay awake, so I don't have a favourite yet. But I actually still wanted to watch, you know?

ah yes, yes, ofc. WELL WHEN YOU WATCH MORE ... let me know.

I'm glad your aunt is starting to feel better (I lurked and saw your thread with Alex).

If you want a sneak peak, just let me know.

I am def interested in this.

generally having emotional breakdowns every couple of weeks

All the hugs, sweetie. It is so brave of you to be there for your auntie even though it's not easy.

I'm also on LINE if you wanna get more personal

Is that better than Kakao?

I'm deep in the throes of Aly Condie's Matched trilogy

I read the first book a million years ago when it first came out. I think I liked it? But I never read the others. I can't remember if it was because I didn't like the end of #1 or if it was just b/c I was in college at the time and didn't have access to a library with YA to read the rest.

I see female characters more clearly, love them more effortlessly, defend them more cleverly.

I adore this description. This is what fandom did for me, made me see the internalized misogyny I grew up with and learn to love and appreciate female characters so much more than I used to.

Yes, I am super glad that she is doing better. She's slowing down a bit as the radiation really starts to effect her more, but much better than I expected. (even if she's doing far worse than she expected. somehow she thought that the day after radiation she'd be bouncing around and 100% back to her old normal. which is so far from reality, I can't help her with that ( ... )
