rarepairfest is live and I got a really lovely Braven story that everyone should go read and give kudos to for being awesome!
the sovereign nose (of your arrogant face)
More than just a Braven shipper piece, this is a wonderful Raven-gen piece, exploring her relationship with the Ground, with Bellamy, with Octavia, and with herself. With wonderful lines like ( Read more... )

So I THINK that it is airing somewhere, but also being released all at once on Netflix on the 25th? I DON'T KNOW HOW IT WORKS!?

The older bro sublimation shit has been designed just to appease my trash kinks... Pray for me.
Don't even speak to me of this, friend. Somehow I got dragged into the trashy siblingcest ship that is the Merlyns (ala Arrow) and I don't think I'll recover. Kate/Seth could seriously wound me.

S A N T A N I C O
indeed

I feel dat, honestly. My main ship is Santanico/happiness and Santanico/freedom. I love that already (AFTER ONE EPISODE) they are putting in parallels between Richie's tennis bracelet and her feeling trapped by all the men in her life? AND ALSO THAT RICHIE MAKES HER WATCH OLD VAMPIRE FILMS OMG.

Not sure what Kate does for Santanico, though, apart from the symbolism.
Carlos was so insistent and went through so much trouble to get Kate to the temple, so I spent most of season one on the edge of my seat like ANY SECOND SHE WILL REPLACE SANTANICO and then she didn't? that wasn't the plan at all? So now I'm having the "I'm an English major and I read too much into things" debate with the other side of my brain that says "BUT THE NARRATIVE! IT'S SO PERFECTLY EXECUTED!" so... I don't know what that says exactly, but it FELT like Carlos had a plan for Kate and I just... WHAT?!?

And there's gotta be some meaning in how the Geckos are now split and paired off with the person who represents what they each believe in (Santanico = Richie's idol, Kate is a family substitute for Seth)...
Well, and, if S2 is as much Santanico/Kate's story in a mirror to S1 being the Gecko's story as I want it to be (and 201 teased) - then Santanico being with the man who worships her, when maybe she was hoping for more, and Kate being with the conman, who actually needs her help, will do more for their growth than for the Geckos necessarily.

I love how both Geckos are not living up to what they are ~supposed to be for Santanico and Kate - and how both ladies are already frustrated and growing so much into their own people? I just really love where Kate is going.

And Seth.

He fails and it is so precious to me. So, so precious.

lol, was not expecting a Lost/FDTD comparison. (But on second thought... I see it.)
(I meant primarily in terms of narrative construction. This series is doing great work with timelines and telling stories in a unique way, especially when it comes to the Geckos. But also Santanico/Kate - how the Geckos/Eddie's timelines wrap and weave around each other - each telling of the same five minutes revealing something new about all of them. Like time just doesn't move the way it should. While Kate/Santanico are moving forward restlessly, as if time is always running ahead of them, and they are still dealing with/carrying the burden of their pasts and the past mistakes of the men around them / the religion that was supposed to protect them.)

....

...

THIS SHOW MAKES MY BRAIN SO HORNY ALEX.

*knocks over table* THAT'S TODAY

No offense but why else do we live if not for siblingcest trash.

RIGHT??????? I simply did not know Richie had that in him... What a marshmallow.

Honestly, this did not occur to me at all, but I like the twisted way your mind works.

IA. I already feel like the show is slightly biased in favour of Santanico and Kate's POVs.

SPEAK. Especially Kate sneaking around behind Seth's back. Be still my heart. (Btw, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE KATE/SETH PARALLELS TOO. Kate refusing to give up on her own brother, holding on to a hope that's out of Seth's grasp.)

Your feels are superior. *chews*

Okay I did research and it seems as though Netflix went to a network. SO. I'm not sure how episode one was released early, but it actually doesn't air until tonight (like right now or a couple of hours ago) WHICH MEANS that we have to wait another week until episode two?

I'M VERY CONFUSED.

(Seriously considering a rewatch.
also seriously considering blackmailing my podcast partner into doing a FDTD podcast because IT'S SO DAMN GOOD?)

probably won't do either

No offense but why else do we live if not for siblingcest trash
my life was lacking before. i see this now.

(Btw, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE KATE/SETH PARALLELS TOO. Kate refusing to give up on her own brother, holding on to a hope that's out of Seth's grasp.)
ALWAYS ALWAYS TALK TO ME ABOUT THE KATE/SETH PARALLELS.
Seth following his brother into hell because of his faith in him. Seth covering for Richie, defending him, feeling indebted to him.
Kate willing to walk back into hell for her brother. Kate not willing to move on, Kate becoming a conman to protect her brother, Kate losing her ethics but not her morality in the name of her brother.

KATE basically.
