It's great and so believable (both - 14-years old slayers and Buffy&Dawn miscommunication). And I would love to know more about that demon folklore thing. Scary demon tales about Slayers, scary demon nursery rhymes... I never thought about that.

Oh I'm so glad you liked it! (esp the 14-year old Slayers in a tiny city in a forgotten corner of the world. I was hoping the comics would deal with this more than they did - the young or 'older' called Slayers because of the Chosen-spell)

I would love to know more about that demon folklore thing
(lol still trying to plug through my femslash meme that got pushed aside for a longfic in another fandom that snuck up on me. but I will definitely put a pin in this idea!)

*lol*

I like that. I haven't seen that thought anywhere before.
I'm glad you liked it.

I always wondered if this was the ~point of the Slayer-dreams (seeing the past Slayers at work) and it definitely was Buffy's purpose in interviewing Spike in 'Fool for Love' - she wanted to know what the fatal mistake was of a previous Slayer(s). :)

I've heard other people in fandom say that this was the case, but I think that idea is derived mostly from the comics (tales of the slayers and frey) so don't quote me.

I always felt like slayer dreams did not get utilized as they could have been in canon.

And big YES to Dawn being the one looking for other Slayers. This makes so much sense to me. I actually don't understand why in canon (comic?) it's Xander with that role. He might recognize a strong girl but he doesn't have vision or a sixth sense or a physical connection to Slayers (it's got to be the blood).

Of course she's a "Watcher" but with Dawn, a "Watcher watches" takes on entirely new meaning - she watches with the wisdom of experience and connection that Giles lacked as a grown man. She knows what to look for.

Your Dawn is always delightful to me.

specifically dealing with the Slayer; aka: what fairy tales do demons tell their children about the Slayer?Oh god YES to ( ... )

This was fantastic.
I love the mysterious edge that you gave to Dawn's new life and I love the idea of Buffy helping other Slayers learn how to fight.

Oh I'm so pleased you enjoyed it!
(psst! I mighta kinda stole the idea for Dawn's new life a teeny bit from a character arc in Arrow ... but only the 'working in a bar on the beach in a foreign country' part) Yay but I'm glad you liked where both of the girls were!

I love this. I love how Dawn and Buffy are living these different but similiar lives and how they sometimes bring each other closer and sometimes take them farther apart, but their realationship pretty much stays the same, not changing how well they know each other or who they are necessarily. And how Dawn is fighting for the little people who get over looked (such a Dawn thing) and Buffy needs reminded but then totally turns into her leadership role for what is needed.

I also love your headcanon and how Dawn is scowering the world for Slayer knowledge. I'll add myself to the list of people who would be totally interested in reading fic for that if you ever get around/feel like writing it.

Oh, and the postcards. I love the postcards at the end, that Buffy saw too late to understand in the beginning. So perfect.

hihi babu

Yes, I'm so glad that you liked the way this relationship played out! I actually really love the IMPLICATIONS of the comics 'verse - and am mostly frustrated at Dawn's place in it. I love the idea of these Slayers everywhere and Buffy being a General and having unlimited resources - and Dawn being the thing that balances her and reminds her of the little people? Because that was her role in the series - she was Buffy's human half; fragile as steel and single-minded and caring. Basically I want a comics 'verse with S7-Dawn, which is what I tried to do here as much as possible.

I also love your headcanon and how Dawn is scowering the world for Slayer knowledge.
*grins* yay I'm so glad so many people are taken with this idea. It makes so much sense to me. (I could also see someone asking her - like a Spike or a Fred/Illyria or a Slayerette/Faith person - why she isn't looking for Key-lore, but instead focuses on Slayer-lore. because that would be a really interesting conversation.)
