to all the Olicity naysayers that said Laurel becoming the Black Canary in Oliver's absence would just 'prove' how domineering and self-absorbed Laurel is:
right before going on a suicide mission to 'save' his sister from a league of assassins, Oliver does the big "I LOVE YOU FELICITY" ~thing.
So Felicity (in three episodes) has this arc: ~ OLLIE LOVES ME ~ EVERYONE THINKS OLIVER IS DEAD BUT I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT ~ Oliver is for sure dead and I can't carry on with this mission because I am tired of the people around me dying (*creys a lot about Sara and yells at the boss-man interested in her*) ~ I love this city and the mission isn't Oliver, it's protecting and taking care of people, and Laurel is in and we are going to make sure we do this right together
WHICH IS A FUCKING LOT TO DO IN SO SHORT OF TIME
and then there's the inevitable:
"we are a new team and have to decide whether to take on a mass murderer as our ally"
to which Felicity says: "OLIVER WOULD NEVER DO THIS THEREFORE WE ARE NOT DOING THIS"
and then they all take a vote (OMG VOTING!!!) and decide: the 'right thing' is to not go to bed with an evil murderer
and then they get the whole city to join in their fight against the current big bad
which was pretty fucking awesome
and Laurel was terrific
ofc Oliver pops back in at the last minute to 'save the day' and then decides to ask the MASS MURDERER that Felicity just got done telling everyone NOT TO TRUST to be his new personal trainer
at which point Felicity says:
Leave me alone.
or more accurately (paraphrasing ofc):
"I thought that surviving this ~thing you went through would make you different, that you would come back and we would be together and you would stop doing reckless things. But the women you love - you don't treat well and you don't respect. I don't want to be a woman that you love."
AND THEN WALKED AWAY
I am just so goddamn proud of her. She was set up as this moral compass of the series - like Cordy ala Angel or Kenzi on Lost Girl. You know - that girl that exists to give the hero a reflection of the best version of himself so that he can aspire to be as great as she believes that he can be.
Only Felicity just took that role, spat on it, and handed it back to Oliver.
^^ actual worst ^^

I am happy today but I'm not too optimistic for the future? We'll see how it pans out.
