"Donghae! Wait up! You forgot your shoes! ....Again...." Hyukjae mutters the last part, running after Donghae, who hasn't managed to realise he is running through the forest to the village.... barefooted. Donghae half falls into a tree trunk when he turns around, his top half against the tree while his legs and feet are still on the pathway, his left foot tangled in a branch. Hyukjae jogs the last fast feet to Donghae, kneeling down next the the younger boy.
"Ow..." Donghae mutters, smiling dazedly up at Hyukjae's face, which is hovering a foot or two above his. Hyukjae is smiling back and shakes his head, chuckling slightly.
".....Can I have my shoes?" Donghae asks, reaching out for where they were held in Hyukjae's right hand. Hyukjae holds them just out of Donghae's reach, leaning away from Donghae to do so. Donghae pouts, and looks away for a second, before slowly looking back, a mischevious look in his eyes and the smirk adorned on his mouth. Hyukjae frowns momentarily, before finding himself pinned to the ground, Donghae straddling his waist happily. Hyukjae groans and rubs the back of his head with his left hand, his right hand having dropped the shoes and automatically gone up around Donghae's waist, to steady the younger boy and make sure he didn't hurt himself. Donghae stares down into Hyukjae's eyes, before his smile grows and he leans down quickly, his lips pressing briefly against Hyukjae's, before he bounds up and off of Hyukjae and grabs his shoes, a light blush adorning his cheeks as he puts his shoes on, refusing to look at Hyukjae, who was still laying down on the ground.
Hyukjae stands up slowly, watching Donghae tie his shoe laces, concentrating on them intently, the blush still not fading. Hyukjae raises his hand and lightly rests his first two fingers against his lips, where he could still feel the pressure that came from Donghae's lips pressing against his. Donghae stands up quickly and starts walking in the direction of the village, not looking at Hyukjae as he passes him, Hyukjae's eyes following Donghae's back as he walks quickly, never looking up from the ground. Hyukjae lowers his hand and runs to catch up with Donghae, slowing down and intertwining their hands as he walks beside Donghae.
Donghae looks over at their intertwined hands before looking up at Hyukjae, who was looking at Donghae, Hyukjae's gentle smile present in his eyes as well. Donghae blushes again as he notices Hyukjae's eyes flit down to his lips before returning to Donghae's eyes. They step together through the last of the wild bushes leading into the village, coming out near the old abandoned house they used to live at, Donghae looked at the freshly cut lawn in front of it, the house itself having been painted a light beige colour and the broken window having been replace. Donghae looks on in wonder as two small children, no older than four chased eachother on the front lawn, a woman smiling as she watches the two children while sitting on a chair on the porch.
"Someone lives there now?" Donghae asks Hyukjae, never looking away from the scene in front of him. Hyukjae squeezes his hand lightly, making Donghae look away and at him. Hyukjae smiles gently at Donghae, raising their combineed hands and brushing the back of his hand against Donghae's cheek, Donghae leaning instintively into the light touch, closing his eyes.
"Hey! Hyuk! That you?" A woman's voice shouts from the old house. Hyukjae lowers their hands and smiles widely at Donghae, who looked confusedly at Hyukjae. Hyukjae's grin gets even bigger and he runs toward their old house, pulling Donghae up the steps with him.
"Unni!" Hyukjae exclaims, giving the woman a one armed hug, never letting go of Donghae's hand. Donghae looks between Hyukjae and the woman and pouts at Hyukjae. Hyukjae stares at his lips before shaking his head and smiling.
"Unni! This is Donghae! Donghae, this is Yoo Syeok unni!" Hyukjae exclaims, Donghae looks at her warily before breaking into a huge smile and hugging her.
"Hi Unni! I'm Lee Donghae! My favorite colour is blue! Do you like it? Do you believe in aliens? I do. Hyukkie here is awesome! He's my favorite person in the whole world!" Donghae exclaims all in one breath, still smiling gigantically. Yoo Syeuk laughs and looks at Hyukjae knowingly.
"He is, is he? From what I've seen he's this horribly unfunny man that thinks he's funny, looks like a monkey, and sucks with children." Yoo Syeok says amusedly, watching Hyukjae scowl and stick his tounge out at her. One of the kids playing into the yard runs up the stairs and grabs Donghae's hand, leading him to the other child. Hyukjae watches as Donghae picks up the child dragging him and carries him around over his head like an airplane, making the sounds and everything. Leaning against the porch railing, Hyukjae glances back at Yoo Syeok, before returning his gaze to Donghae.
"I don't need to be good with kids when I have Donghae.... he's enough of a kid for both of us." Hyukjae says, smiling as he watches Donghae put the kid down and let the other one climb up on his shoulders, the first kid running circles around Donghae as he carefully stands up and starts jogging around the yard, holdng onto the boy so that he doesn't fall from his shoulders.
"Mmm..... I see. You take good care of him Hyukjae, people like that are hard to come by, even if they don't have our tainted past." Yoo Syeok says, hugging Hyukjae briefly before a small car parks in front of the house and a man steps out, the kid not on Donghae's shoulder's running up to him and pointing at Donghae and his sister, probably demanding to be picked up like that. The man laughs and notices Hyukjae on the porch, raising a hand in greeting before swinging the boy onto his shoulders, jogging up the lawn and the porch steps and giving the woman a kiss.
"He looks at Hyukjae, a grin on his face, and asks, "Hey there, Hyukjae, haven't seen you in a while. Where've you been? Stealing more medical supplies from the ambulances?"
Hyukjae laughs and shakes his head. "Haven't done that since I needed to get medicine when I was six and the beautiful kind wife of yours gave me the medicine. The man laughs, and looks out at Donghae and the two kids, who were playing some kind of game that seemed to involve Donghae running between two trees on eitehr side of the yard and the children trying to catch them.
"You didn't have the girl last time I was here, when did you adopt her?" Hyukjae asks, smiling as the kids tackle Dongahe to the ground.
"Three weeks ago. She was darling, and Eunjin took an immediate liking to her, and they've been playing like this since then. Honjuk wanted another boy, but between me and Eunjin, we managed to convice him." She replied, sticking her toungue out at Honjuk, who smiled at her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Not true. And when did you get that handsome young man there? I didn't see him the last time you came down." He says, kissing Yoo Syeok's cheek. Hyukjae looks back at Donghae, who was now part of the catching team in the game, the little boy having taken the running place. Laughing as Donghae attempts to run on his knees, apparently having been disallowed to run on his feet by the children, he replies,
"That's Donghae, the one I called Hae, my brother all those years ago." Honjuk nods and absentmindly stares at the three playing on the lawn.
"You two make a nice couple. Don't let him get away. You'll end up alone for the rest of your life." He says, glancing at Hyukjae, a teasing glint in his eye.
"Hey! I could get whoever I wanted! I just choose not to." Hyukjae exclaims, looking away from Honjuk and his wife in time to see Donghae stumble and fall face first into the ground, before Donghae sits up and crosses his arms, pouting. Hyukjae smiles at the adorable sight before him, Yoo Syeok chuckling knowingly.
"That's because you heads over heels in love with the kid." She says. Hyukjae glances between her and Donghae before sighing.
"Shut up Yoo Syeok." Hyukjae replies, staring at Donghae, who notices and waves, smiling happily, before being tackled by the children again.
