A post which no one will read
Dear Musashi,
No one will read this post, because no one will understand this post. It's a rant about Whistle! the latest anime obsession- thus, why no one is going to WANT TO read this post. Because my friends who read this journal don't like anime, and those that do haven't watched Whistle! But the rant's been building up, so I'm going to rant here. Because I can.
First off, I like Whistle! I'm upset with myself that I didn't read the manga in the bookstores (yet!) earlier because I totally misjudged what it was going to be like. Granted, I'm totally into sports animes, so that might be why I like Whistle! so much now. I like it because it's different from the other one's I'm watching. Well, not exceptionally different. Ok, so it's actually fairly similar to both Prince of Tennis and Eyeshield 21. But that's not the point. The point is that it has a certain originality that the others don't have. The main one being the main character isn't this all powerful soccer playing god (cough cough Ryoma and tennis cough cough). He's like Tohru from Fruits Basket, if Tohru was male and played soccer. Which is really cool.
So this is not a rant about Whistle! exactly.
No no, this is a rant about Mizuno Tatsuya. And spefically, how much I hate him.
In fact, I don't think I've ever hated an anime character as much as I've hated Mizuno Tatsuya. I find myself randomly saying "I hate you Mizuno" when I'm watching the anime, even in scenes when Mizuno's not even in them! That is how much I hate him. Actually, throughout the day I'll find myself going "I hate Mizuno!!" which is a sure sign that this anime is eating my brain.
But yes. You might find yourself asking "So? What's the big deal?"
And the big deal is, I don't think you're supposed to hate Mizuno Tatsuya. In fact, I think you're supposed to like Mizuno Tatsuya. The fangirls do anyway. And what's worse, it appears that Mizuno is supposed to be the one that you slash with the main character, the wonderful Tohru-like Kazamatsuri Shou. (Oh my GOD with the Mizuno/Shou fics already! I HATE THEM! WHY LORD WHY?!) And. Ok. I get it. I do. I can see it. But for gods sake! You can literally slash Shou with ANYONE in that damn anime. He's a very versitile uke that way. In fact, he has a whole frickin' harem, much like Yuri from Kyou Kara Maou. You can slash him with (MY FAVORITE! *Heart*) Fuwa Daichi. In fact, you SHOULD slash him with Fuwa Daichi. Fuwa Daichi IS TEN TIMES BETTER THEN Mizuno Tatsuya. Some people do, mind you. Like, two for every TWENTY people that slash Shou with Mizuno. You can slash him with Shige (who is also a favorite) and you can slash him with Tenjo (who I like so much better now. Except then they shipped him off to Germany. Is Germany just where you send sports players? Is that it? Maybe he met Tezuka...) And you can slash him with Shiina Tsubasa (I love him too, he's such a punk. Except Shou/Shiina is kinda weird because they're both short, and Shiina looks like a girl. So it would kinda be like, shota/shota, which is so wrong) and you can even slash him with his frickin' brother. Or Shibusawa (who I didn't like originally but now I do)or Fujishiro Seiji (who is so awesome, I love him too) who are actually better together then with anyone else. ANYONE WOULD BE BETTER THEN MIZUNO!!!!!!!!!
And I'm sitting there, trying to figure out why I hate Mizuno so much. Because all things considering, he should be the kind of person I automatically stick in my harem. He's pretty, he's a genuis at his sport, he's the captain, he's pretty, he shows human traits as well, he's pretty, the way he took control of the team was really cool, and he's pretty. So you would think, why kwishin, this sounds like the perfect guy for you, why do you hate him so much?
I sat there thinking about this for a good long while too. Because with each episode I just hate Mizuno more and more and wonder why WHY anyone would EVER like Mizuno.
Then I came up with a solution. It's because he's reminds me of Sasuke. And it turns out that anyone who reminds me of Sasuke automatically repels me.
Except, as much as I hate Sasuke right now (and I really, *really* hate Sasuke right now) Sasuke at least has some good qualities that I can look back on and think about how he isn't all bad. And there's the firm belief that as soon as Naruto goes and kicks his ass good, Sasuke will once again be a likeable person.
There is no such hope for Mizuno Tatsuya.
And Ok, I haven't finished the series yet, so I really can't be making these judgements. But I hate hate hate HATE him. And I don't think I'll ever stop hating him. I mean, he'd have to do something really impressive in order to win me over. And we already know about his angsty past (GODS do we know about his agnsty past. So he hates his father. GET OVER IT) so there's no hope that we can justify it by getting sudden revelations into his charater. We already know his character. We hate him anyway.
Although, I do think he goes well with Shige. Mizuno/Shige stuff is not so compelely repulsive as Mizuno/Shou. So maybe it's just because I want Shou to be with Fuwa that biases me some what.
Let's face it, who doesn't love Fuwa Daichi? He is quite literally, the secret love child of Inui and Kaidoh from Prince of Tennis. (I've been thinking this, and then I found someone on line who said the exact same thing! It is so true!!) and that works in so many ways. Because one, Inui and Kaidoh are so gay, so it's plausible for them to have a secret love child. And two, Fuwa is so their love child. He's rough and agressive and repels people in an angry manner exactly like Kaidow, yet he's calulating and collects data just like Inui. In fact, he collects data like Kaidoh would collect data, if he was Inui. We first see him trying to jump off a bridge because he wants to know why so many people commit suicide off of it. How Kaidoh-meets-Inui is that?!? And plus, Kaidoh and Fuwa have the same voice actor! It was meant to be.
Plus, he's so much better with Shou than Mizuno. Mizuno has all that angsty Sasuke to Naruto kind of stuff towards Shou. Like, is Shou better then me? Is Shou going to be better then me? Oh my god, I didn't make that point, let me sit here and CRY now. (grrr. I hate Mizuno). And Fuwa doesn't have that. I mean, come on. "I want to join the soccer team in order to investigate why Kazumatsuri smiles" How cute is that?!? And Fuwa is so cool about soccer. Best line ever: "Don't worry guys, they won't get passed me. And if they do, all that will happen is we'll lose" anime flat falls all around. He's so awesome.
So yes. Me being completely in love with Fuwa Daichi might have *something* to do with the fact that I hate Mizuno Tatsuya. Maybe. A little. Tiny bit.
BUT I HATE MIZUNO!!!!!!
I hate him so much that I stopped watching Whistle! today because the next episode was going to be Mizuno centered. Waste of a damn episode if you ask me.
*sigh* Ok. That's it. I hate Mizuno. It's too bad that no one else has watched Whistle! because I'd really like to know if it's just me, or if he really is that detestable.
