GO TIGERS!

Oct 18, 2006 18:43

This Saturday, for the first time in 22 years the Tigers will be competing in the World Series! It has been a remarkable season, and I am so happy for this Tigers team because we have been waiting so long for the World Series to come back to Detroit. It's really strange to think that in 1984 (the last World Series that the Tigers played in) I wasn't even born...my parents weren't even married yet...Ronald Reagan was president. When I think of these things I realize how long it really has been since Detroit has seen a Fall Classic.

What can I say about this Tiger's team? This season? "Absolutely Amazing" probably sums it up pretty well. In 2003 the Tigers nearly set the record for the most loses in a season. Fast forward to 2006 with a new manager and the addition of a few new players, the Tigers have finally made it into the World Series--not any small feat either. To get to this point, the Tigers pretty much did the impossible. No one thought that Detroit even had a chance in the playoffs starting against the Yankees. But what did we do? We lost the first game and surprised the world of baseball by beating the Yankees in the next three games to win the series. Then Oakland was next and we swept them 4 games in a row.

Now we advance to the Fall Classic - The World Series 2006. So, to Pudge, Magglio, Casey, Polanco, Granderson, C-Mo, the entire pitching staff, the rest of the team, and most of all Jim Leyland--thank you for bringing baseball back to Detroit and best of luck as we begin our first World Series in over two decades!

GO TIGERS!!!
