So, I haven't updated in a month. A lot has happened during this time. I finished my Spring classes (Chemistry and Accounting). It feels really good to be done for the rest of the summer. I have now started working 30 hours per week, so the extra money will be really nice.
So far the summer has been kind of fun... nothing too spectacular. I am content with just hanging out with friends. I really wanted to take a trip or something this summer but it looks like it probably won't happen. It's funny because at various points in the last month I had planned to go to Cedar Point, Tennessee, Mackinac Island, or Germany... however none of them worked out.
Last night a group of us went to the ice cream social at the Kosanivich residence for the SVSU exchange students. Some of them were from Korea but the majority were from Saudi Arabia. I'm really glad I went because it was a lot of fun. I thought it was very interesting how all of the Saudis were guys. I guess there were about 5 Saudi girls that came as exchange students but because of their culture they aren't allowed to associate in public with the male Saudis. I found this quite interesting...it was definitely different to see a group of all guys dancing instead of the girl-on-guy action that we do here in the U.S.
Being there last night made me want to travel so badly... I just want to get out and see the world... see something bigger and better than our little Saginaw community. Even though I know college is necessary, I wish that I had the money to just put it on hold for a few years and travel the world.
I really hope that it works out for me to go to Germany next summer. I really want to see Jana, and Europe would be amazing. Until then, though, I just have to be content with Saginaw (and in the fall East Lansing--which will be better). Which reminds me that orientation is coming up quickly on July 10th!
Well, this has become sort of long, and I should probably get back to working.
What is everyone doing for this weekend / 4th of July? We should all make plans to go to Bay City fireworks on Monday or something.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND!!!
