Hey folks! Haven't actually updated this in a while...
Lemme see...exams! They'd be pretty much the focal point of my life right now, even though I'm failing miserably to get any work done.
Maths - College maths is a bit scary. The lectures are at 10am every morning so with me testing out the student life and all, I didn't make it in to very many. Which isn't good when it's by far the hardest subject I do, and the subject I intend on doing til at least third year if not for my degree. So gotta kinda...pass it :) Hopefully I'll be okay though. Algebra is fine, handy shtuff, Analysis is a bit hard to get yer head around though, I find anyway. Hopefully it'll just click or something.
Physics - I haven't been to a physics lecture in months, barely went to any the whole year. That's fine though, it's just first year physics, I've just gotta learn a few more topics and brush over leaving cert stuff and I'll be fine. I do maths physics too so it makes physics look alot easier.
Maths physics - Not sure about this one. I'll be grand on the long questions as I can simply do questions from my leaving cert and like physics, I wont be doing it next year so really don't care about knowing-it-all. The short questions make up 40% of the exam though, and cover all topics and you have to answer all of them, so my study is gonna be basically learning the formulae/basics of every topic. That's fine though, I have like 2 or 3 days off before each maths physics paper, this will be study time for that!
Computer Science - Being a nerd most of my life paid off. Picked up python pretty handily which is most of the course so just gonna be sticking to that in the exam and revising some computer hardware stuff before the exam. Again doable in the day or two I have off prior to the exam though.
So basically, a week and a half of maths study with some physics thrown in in front of me. Hopefully it'll all work out! I do quite want the scholarship, which you get by getting firsts in everything. It's still doable, but it is annoying knowing how easy it would have been to get had I actually gone to lectures.
Also gotta figure out what I want to do next year...I have two subjects decided, Maths and Computer Science, then I can pick two half subjects (or one full subject, but think this is the better choice), so picking stats and probability, but dunno what to pick for my last one. I can pick something else mathsy....or I can pick french or german. Intermediate French or beginners german (Cus I did french for my lc, can't take it up beginners level!). If I do go the language route I dunno which to choose. French I like the sound of much more than german, so much more free flowing, but I didn't like it in school, and only got a C1 in it, whereas most people picking it got A's. However, a few of my current college friends are gonna be doing french, so it'd be nice to keep them, cus I'm not gonna see them in lectures with my nerdy subject choices next year otherwise. German has the advantage of being from scratch though, not to mention my girlfriend speaks german (being half german), so if I'm still with her come next year that'd be kinda fun :p Anyone wanna steer me? :)
Other news...juggling's still pretty awesome. I'm gonna be co-vice auditor next year. I didn't even consider it til I was asked but I really like the idea of it now. I get along great with the new auditor and other vice auditor, they're really cool, so I'd be happy to work with them, not to mention I couldn't juggle before I went to college, now it's a pretty important aspect of me. Not as important as music or anything, but still, it's such a great society, it'll be good to kinda...pay back, or whatever.
Girlfriend is still awesome also. She's gone home to Mayo (yeah, I know..) til Tuesday night which is a bitch, it hasn't even been a week and I really do miss her an awful awful lot. It's a good sign, but it's also a bit scary...she's hoping to stay up for the Summer, but what if she doesn't get a job and can't? It'd be like this only...every week! Shant think about that though, as I said, it is a good thing that I really miss her, so I'll stick to the positive aspect :)
Peace out,
David
