[Locked from Kim Legaspi]

Kim showed up Friday afternoon. Completely unexpected.

My initial reaction was anger. I wanted so badly to shut her out of my life and leave her in the past. She didn't let me do that. I could ignore the e-mails, I could erase the voicemails, but I couldn't flat-out ignore her when she was standing in the doorway to my office. Not when she'd come all the way from California and I hadn't seen her in five years.

After some arm-twisting I agreed to have dinner with her. We discussed the past, but only briefly. I actually thanked her for making me realize what was missing in my life, and for helping me to not be as scared in future relationships as I was in ours. It was almost like our first few dinners together--no relationship stuff, no looking over my shoulder every two minutes to see who might be around us. It was...nice.

It turns out they offered her the position at Northwestern as soon as the interview ended. So, if any of you at County are looking for a good psychiatrist outside of the hospital, I highly recommend her.
