'All seasons have their advantages. If you want to profit from the city life, come in fall or winter. End December adds to it the bright illuminations on the Champs-Elysées and at the Haussman department stores. If you want to do sightseing and just walk around the city, May, June, September can have very nice and mild weather. Versailles, Fontainebleau and other attractions out of the city are best visited in spring or fall when the forests are beautifully colorful. In the summer, the weather can be very warm, traffic is less intense. But the tourist spots are then crowded and the city life is at a minimum, with the lowest point on the 15th of August. New year's eve on the Champs-Elysées, the 14th of July fireworks over the Eiffel tower seen from the Palais de Chaillot , the 14th of July military parade and the arrival of the Tour de France cycling race on the Champs-Elysées end of July are major attractions every year. The first days of January and July are an excellent season for shopping as clothes are on sale.'
