Back, way back, my little Nissan pick up truck gave signs that the transmission was going wonky -4 speed automatic, the 4th being an economy cruise setting, and that 4th gear was not kicking in properly. Took it to the local AAMCO to get it fixed. $3K later it was fixed- except that it really wasn't. So I took it back- January 6th. As of May 16th, it is still there. True, the shop was having problems, mis-management and then the franchise was sold and there were problems with the personell. Then being a 20-year old foreign truck, parts were something of an issue. Then finding someone with the wherewithal to do the job, then more rare parts, and the tales of woe kept on. Recently, they announced that they had the transmission itself fixed, but had lost some of the parts needed to reinstall it into the truck. (WTF!) Among the lost parts were special magic bolts that could only be special ordered from Japan, and only via the slowest shipping service.
Last week, I was told that the transmission had, in fact, been reinstalled and that they would be fine-tuning the installation and have it back to me by today, the 16th. As it is now 16:26 PDT, I suspect that they will not have it ready for me today. I doubt that they will have it done this week, perhaps not this month. Any bets?
