Notes by a barbarian travelling to the center of the civilized world

Ok, here are today's impressions. The National Gallery is the best London museum I've been to so far and probably one of the best picture galleries I've ever been to.
I also watched a Parliament session today. Democracy in action. Very ceremonial, though.
In the evening I travelled to Greenwich. Zeroth meredian and all. As I approached the exit from the park surrounding the Royal Observatory, I observed that the gate was locked with me inside. Luckily, a service car pulled by shortly and an african-british guy let me out.
From Greenwich I walked the pedestrian tunnel under the Thames. It's rather spooky. Imagine a long pipe, three meters in diameter gowing down. As you walk, nothing seems to change, so you soon loose the perception of reality. Hard to explain.
I finished the day with an Italian meal on a square near the Canary Wharf underground, among skyscrapers housing major banks' headquarters looking at the stokc ticker on the Reuters building. Looks like the market is doing badly without me.
