World Series of Poker

My WSOP experience was short and disappointing. I lasted only through the middle of the third level or about 4 hours.

A few hands I remember )

they say the event was a $10k buy-in

I have a question then: when you say "5K pot",
15K or "100K stack" - are these real dollars
or some other units

I read some more about World Series of Poker
and now I think I know the answer to my question above

the $10k is the entry price
but the playing chips are not real money
in the sense that one is not free to stop
playing at any moment and cash out.

there is real prize money, but that is only
determined by how far one advances in the tournament

looks like just to break even or to win some small amount one
has to finish in the top 10%

sorry for asking such trivial questions

I think I asked this question too once upon a time. I believe, it's considered that in terms of expected values, beginning of large tournies approximates regular cash games very closely. What you said there is all true though.
