One engagement later, wedding plans take precedence in my mind over birthday plans. Unfortunately, this is just before my birthday... I have that more or less completely planned and timed out though, to the point I can more or less just sit back and let it happen.
Weddings, on the other hand, are more difficult and time-consuming to plan...
I've chosen my dress, provisionally. The Ravenswing dress from The Dark Angel is the one I've got my eye on.
http://www.thedarkangel.co.uk/en/product/387sv-silver-ravenswing-dress# I've been in touch with them and they said they'll do it in blue for me, they're even going to send out a swatch of fabric so I can see the colour before I make up my mind for sure. I hope it's not too dark a blue, I'm hoping for a kind of royal blue. Hoping also to have flowers in my hair. I really like the look of floral hair garlands like this one at Amazon.

I may also ask Lucy. I don't want to put too much stress on her though, we'll be getting married about 3 weeks after her and Kirk.
Sheryl will do the catering for us, of course. We're hoping to have the reception either at their house or at dad's. We will of course pay Sheryl for supplies used, and I'd like to get her a nice bouquet as well as thanks.
What else...
Rings. Sterling silver, I should think. To match my engagement ring. I'm size S, we'll have to find out what size Ian is.
We'll have to sort out suits for him and for Jay, who is going to be his best man (pending the request being made of course).
I'm going to ask Faye to play for the entertainment. I'd rather not have a DJ playing the same Abba songs that you hear at every wedding and end up inevitably with a few adults dancing for a handful of songs and then just the kids playing while the adults talk.
Cake. I'm thinking cupcakes. I can make them easily enough, and I can make plenty for everyone, so why not! I don't especailly like fruit cake anyway.
We're going to have to make the appointment with the registry office to do all the necessary. Before then I'm going to have to go to the county court to get another copy of my decree absolute because I can't find the original, to my annoyance.
We're going to have to sort out invitations, obviously. I wonder whether we should do save the date cards as well. With it being in late summer I think it would be a good idea - people may be on holiday, and may want to have the date in mind when planning their holidays.
I'm thinking this year we'll do a Christmas letter. I can include something in that about how we're thinking of having straight-line immediate family only at the ceremony (which reminds me, we need to put a guest list together) and to please not be offended if people don't get invited, unfortunately we can't ask everyone we would like to have there.
I'm thinking I can have a combined birthday-and-hen-party next year. Suggested to Ian that he could have a night in with the boys with the playstation, pizza and beer. His eyes lit up at the idea. I'll happily stay at a friend's for the night to give him that time and space to himself. We might be able to schedule his stag and my hen on the same night, that would be ideal. I could even ask all my friends and sort a budget hotel for us all to stay at or something, it'd be fun. The Ibis hotel in town has rooms for £40 per night, that way we could do whatever we wanted, go out, eat, drink, dance, sleep, maybe hit up a mcdonald's for breakfast. I don't know really what I'd like to do otherwise but that seems like it'd be a good hen (and birthday) party to me.
Proposed wedding date Saturday 3rd August 2013.
