Well, the plan for the weekend was to cook something new that I've not cooked before. Partly because I needed something to give this time meaning, and partly because I'm very good at spaghetti bolognaise but it's getting a bit boring.
Plan accomplished. I made tacos, and they were LOVELY. I made lots and lots so have plenty of leftovers in the fridge which will feed me for at least the rest of today, and possibly tomorrow as well. Unfortunately I used my last pepper to make it, and I get paid on Thursday. Must remember to make sure peppers are on my shopping list.
I have also rearranged the kitchen just a tiny bit. I dropped - and broke, naturally enough as it was a glass jar on to a stone floor from about 5 and a half feet up - a jar of mint the other week, and since then have been thinking that I would like a spice rack...except that I don't really want a new thing taking up space in the kitchen, I really just want somewhere safe that I can put my herbs and spices and little bottles of food colouring and those little things that I'll acccidentally knock out of the kitchen cupboard and smash. Realised last night while I was not sleeping (thanks to a rude neighbour and her aggressively loud music, spoke to the noise complaints team three times last night...or was it four...) that I have a little shelf in the corner of my kitchen units that I just use to display glasses. They glasses look very pretty there but they get very dusty too. Turns out, my spices and herbs and food colouring and other little cooking and baking essentials fill the space pretty perfectly. There's even a little edging at the front of the shelf, so things won't get knocked off accidentally :) great fun setting that all up this morning. I have also replaced the mint...
