The reason I have somehow managed to not post for a week is because I kept going to London and coming back (going again tomorrow) and then there was so much to catch up with, with my time spend fairly equally on the election, on reading numerous posts about consent and then as a break from all that on figure skating fun times. Re: Terry Richardson, I had been following that unfolding on Jezebel and today finally got into fangirling Tami Gevinson (not that I didn't wish her well before, just didn't particuarly follow) when they linked to this post. SING IT, SISTER! And other less embarassing interjections.

I am a little ashamed to admit that it is from her post that I saw everything else (not that I didn't know about him, but the more specific recent accusations) and Tavi is awesome. It makes me sad how much her fame has led to people saying really awful things on the internet about her.

Yeah seriously, she might not be the Best Blogger Ever, but she's a good blogger, not even good for a 14 year old, just good. I'm sure it's true that the attention she has got over other fashion bloggers has been for the novelty factor, but that doesn't make her not smart and funny - there was a good Jez post about the poor ideas of adolescents it illustrated.

I'm not saying that's all Richardson does, but "love" entails "respect" and also "the basic human decency to not use pictures of someone's lady parts for your photography show without her permission" and also "the basic human decency to not pressure a girl into giving you a hand job because OH MY GOD I WILL LITERALLY NOT BE ABLE TO PRESS THE FLASH BUTTON ON MY CAMERA UNLESS YOU TAKE NOTICE OF THE FACT THAT I HAVE NO PANTS ON. ALSO I'M A PROFESSIONAL."

I agree! I think that is an important point, she has a distinct voice, humour and knowledge. I found her blog when she was 12 and she has really grown as a blogger since. The fact that her fame, was a result of her own merits, instead of being seen as a good thing tends to result in a bunch of angry/indignant people insulting everything about her, saying she looks like a gremlin and worse. This upsets me.

Do you mean about who he is or what he has done? He is one of very few fashion photographer whose style I recognise, and not just because of the nudity. I had come across lots of rumours before, I think his behaviour is one of those open secrets that his enormous influence continues to protect him from.

No, I hadn't heard of him (I only follow pro fashion really intermittently and don't usually check bylines even then) at all! Sounds like there has been so much bullshit, as Jodie says with the Polanski BUT HE'S AN ARTISTE, HOW ARE OUR GENIUS MEN SUPPOSED TO PRODUCE WORK WITHOUT BEING JACKED OFF BY TEENAGERS defences.

Well, you definitely haven't missed out on his great art, but for future reference If it's a grainy snap shot of a naked girl(s) with bad lighting, it's probably by him.
