(no subject)

*YAWN* I am so tired, I guess that is what lack of sleep does to people, however as I had promised myself to update and hadn't done so in more than two weeks, here I am.

< Yesterday it was Westminster Day and I went to London to Westminster City Hall, with my politics class, and it was really good! After lunch, a couple of us sneaked off... No, we are not terrible people, as instead of going off shopping in Oxford street, we went in the Parliament!! We watched the Commons and the Lords, and even went to sit in a Joined Committee for a Gambling Bill, whatever you do people, don't go there! It may sound cool to sit among MPs and Lords, but some of these are seriously scary, imagine sitting, dressed smartly in jeans, and then everyone starts chuckling (I can't think of a better word, for it wasn't laughing) and you don't actually know why. But all the policemen were very nice and helpful and wanted to talk to us, I suspect that was because they were all bored out of their minds, the one in the cttee room was nodding off. I did write a rather lengthy and probably dull description of all the MPs speaking etc, however deleting it accidentally means that now I just can't be bothered to write it up again, maybe tomorrow I'll edit the post.
We had to leave from school at 6:30 am, and the journey there was particularly uneventful, due to the early hours (see, how clever I was being there, instead of just saying: Boring!) But there was an incident, that I want to mention because it not only annoyed me, but also surprised me, as I didn't expect so many people to be so close minded, most of them nice people too. But instead of trying to express my outrage, let me just share the very short conversation we had. I will try to be as accurate as possible, but bear in mind it was very early.
Boy 1: I hate racism, racists are evil! (in a pompous way) I also hate homosexuals.

Me: What?!

Boy1: Well, I don't hate homosexuals, I just hate that they have the same rights that we do.

Me: What?! But they don't, that's the problem!

Boy2: Yes, it's just stupid! I mean marriage!

Me: *Looks in disbelief, controls shouting impulses.*

Boy3: Yeah! (NB wasn't previously in the conversation joined in after hearing that.)

Girl to my left: They shouldn't be allowed to adopt! (5 mins later, she told me she wants to be a human rights lawyer)

Me to friend to my right: Can you believe the ignorance of some people, I am not going to say anything as last time I did, we ended up shouting at each other for about 40 mins. Remember I told you about it, when Lisa told me afterword to tone it down.*

Friend to the right: You mean, you support all that nonsense?

Me: Oh god, not you too!

Friend to the right: But..

Me: Shh, I am not starting this conversation, I want a pleasant trip!

It goes on, but I think I got my point across, I was so *Oh My God* Afterwords I talked to other people who seemed alright about it, but it was the sheer ignorance that completely boggled me, and how strongly people felt about the subject.

*In that previous occasion, a couple of weeks ago, it was the right of a same sex couple to adopt that was discussed (Read: shouted) And out of ten of us, only two people were against, and one was nearly convinced! Returning to the political part of my post, my MP actually resigned from the shadow cabinet over the issue. A conservative. Am proud.

Ok, thats it for now, expect more sooner or later
