USING THE GAY EXCUSE URKS ME

So unless you were under a rock, you know that this was SUPERBOWL WEEKEND.  I know that many of my friends and readers are not into Football as much as Rob and I are. Or even sports in general.  Which is cool, cause different strokes for different folks.

Alot of my friends tend to respond with "not interested in watching" or "not into football" which are logical and legit answers. But this weekend at a friends birthday party I was part of a conversation and a friend of mine asked a person if they were watching the Superbowl on Sunday.  His response was "I'm Gay we don't watch those sort of things"  and he said it in a stereotypical snarky manner. And for some reason his reply urked me.  Usually I just ignore such a reply. But again.. it urked me.  Before I could reply to him, our mutual friend butted in and said "seriously dude, you know alot of gays watch and play sports right?"  I just walked away as they both argued and decided to join the Cosplay conversation downstairs.

I hate it when gays use the "gay card" for things such as sports, music, TV shows etc etc. Just because you dont like it, or are not interested does not mean that all of us feel or think the same. And using a comment like "I'm gay" or "Its a gay thing", or even "Gays dont do that" just perpetuates a stereotype or stigma on both sides.
