Chapter  1

“I can’t believe it has been seven years already.”

Ohno turned around and saw Jun standing by the door.

“Can we come in?” Nino asked and pushed the door wider. Without waiting for Ohno’s answer, the others came pouring into his room and sat on his bed.

Ohno smiled sadly and turned his gaze back to the photo that is hanging on the wall and the portrait beside it.

“Yea, me too.”

“Seven years ago, on this very day…” Sho said and closed his eyes.

“Are we there yet?” Nino moaned and turned behind. He sat alone while Sho and Jun sat together behind him. Aiba and Ohno sat together in the next row. They are all in the bus heading to Yamanakako for a camping trip. They’ve decided to take a break and have some fun since they’ve not had a holiday ever since they debuted as ARASHI. It can also help to strengthen their relationship.

“We are here!” Aiba chirped.

“It seems like we’ve chosen a good place. There are not many people too.” Jun said as he got down with the others to the bus stop.

“Luckily we did not choose to go during the weekends or school break.” Ohno said.

“Let’s go in now! I’m starving already.” Nino complained.

“Wait, before that let’s take a photo.” Jun suggested while holding a camera in his right hand.

“Oh man…” the others complained.

“Quick! I’ve set the timer already.”

They quickly stand together in front of the sign indicating the campsite and pose foolishly.

“Okay, let’s go!! Last person to the campsite is going to have to set the tent up.” Ohno said and dashed.

“Wait!!” the others follow suit.

At last, they’ve reached the campsite. Wanting more privacy, the others decided to find somewhere deeper in the jungle.

“Are you sure, Sho-kun?” Ohno asked.

“Don’t be afraid, riida.”

“Wh-who says I’m afraid?!”

“Then I don’t think you’ll have any problems.”

They found a spot beside a waterfall and settled down. Sho and Nino had to set the tent up as they were the last ones to arrive. Aiba and Ohno went to collect the sticks for the bonfire.

“Aiba-chan, let’s not go too far from the campsite shall we?”

“Riida, I didn’t know you are that scared. Oh, look at that.”

Ohno looked to where Aiba pointed. It’s an old but big house located beside a stream. It looks as if it has been abandoned for years judging by the state of the house.

Suddenly, the sound of a wood snapping is heard.

“Ne, Ai-Aiba-chan, let’s go.” Ohno said while tugging the sleeves of Aiba’s shirt. They ran back to their campsite without a second thought.

“What took you guys so long?” Jun asked when he saw Aiba and Ohno.

“W-We were just looking for better stick.” Ohno said. Jun doesn’t seem to believe it but he decided not to push it.

By the time Jun finished cooking, the sun is nowhere to be seen but hiding behind the clouds.

“Yabai, let’s eat quickly before the rain pours.” Nino said as he looked up to the sky. They sat on logs that they have arranged, surrounding the bonfire and ate. Before they get to digest the food that they’ve eaten, the rain starts to pour heavily.

“We have to find shelter! We are going to freeze to death with the fire out.” Sho said.

“There’s a house not far from here.” Aiba suggested. They brought a towel along and followed Aiba.

They were stepping into the corridor of the house when they realized Ohno is not following them in.

“What are you doing standing there?” Jun yelled as the sound of the rain drops beating against the roof is very loud.

“I’m not going in there!”

“You’re going to catch a cold!”

“I’d rather catch a cold than going into that house.”

Sho ran out quickly and pulled him into the house despite what he said earlier. Jun shut the door immediately.

“We are here with you. You don’t have to be afraid.” Aiba said as he’s trying to make Ohno calm.

“This is not like the haunted house we went that day.” Nino said.

Ohno calmed down a little after that. They looked around the house since they can’t do anything until the rain stops. All the furniture in the house is draped with white cloths. The wall is decorated with wallpapers. A chandelier hung magnificently from the ceiling. There’s a fireplace located at the opposite of where the sofas are.

“The interior of the house is actually quite nice.” Sho said.

“I wonder why the owner abandoned this house.” Ohno said.

“You’ve calmed down at last.” Aiba said. Ohno nodded and gave a shy smile.

“Ne, Ohno-kun, why are you so afraid of the haunted house?” Nino asked and sat beside the coffee table after he dusted the place where he’s about to sit with his hands.  He didn’t dare to remove the cloth. The others turn to look at Ohno after Nino asked him that question.

He moved to where Nino is and did what he did before he sat. He took a deep breath before he starts talking.  The others started to join them too. They formed a circle unconsciously as they sat around the coffee table.

“Well, it all started when I was 5 years-old. My cousin brothers whom were much older than I am took me to a funfair. We all entered a haunted house together but then I strayed from the group and got lost.” Ohno stopped for a while as the thunder clapped.  He didn’t seem reluctant to continue but Aiba nudged him with his elbows, asking him to tell them more. Then, he continued.

“Suddenly, a woman wearing all white, with blood flowing from her mouth appeared in front of me. She tries to reach out to me and opened her mouth as if she was trying to say something. Before she managed to do anything, I screamed and ran. Everywhere I ran to, all I see was ghost and ghost. If I’m not mistaken, I fainted after that.”

“You think you fainted?” Sho asked.

“Yea, that’s what they told me. When I woke up, I was in the hospital. They found me hiding/ fainted at a corner. I had a trauma because of that incident. The scariest part is that they can’t find the woman dressed in white.”

“Ah...no wonder you wouldn’t go to any dark places. I get it now.” Jun said.

“Why did---” Nino wanted to ask but he was interrupted by Ohno.

“Did you guys hear that?” he asked.

“Hear what?” Sho asked.

“That.” Ohno said again when the sound is getting louder. It sounds as if someone is dragging something heavy on the floor. Then it stopped. No longer than two seconds later, the sound is heard again. Perhaps that person is dragging a dead body?
