Far out! So much has happened.. even just in the past few days.
Let's see.
theBlackMarket didn't do so well. After a huge proposal to Echo Lounge in Parramatta, we got a knock back saying we were only prepared to spend about 20% of what what we should be on advertising. So we discovered we were in over our heads for now. Hopefully, when I get back from my trip, I will know a little more, and we will have prepared a little better, and we will each be in a better position to put more money into starting this. If it is successful, its great cash, and more importantly, its an awesome job!!
On Friday I was in a car accident. I was turning right into Girgis' complex to take him to the doctor. The line of traffic was stopped at a red light, so one guy stopped and left enough room for me to go. I crept infront of him, and stopped before going across the next lane. I could see the stream of cars coming, but had a small blind spot from where I was. so I was at least able to see cars coming, and when the last one in the strand went, I drove forward. Someone came out of nowhere ( I think it was from the back of the first line of cars - the road merges, and I think he was trying to overtake them all before it merged) and we hit. Anyway, considering it was a pretty messy accident (by my standard anyway) it was alright. The other guy was all smiles, no injuries, even though it was his car that was bleeding radiator fluid and he had to get towed. I've just got a sore lower back, but nothing to complain about. We've got a courtesy car now and after a brief moment of the obligatory crack-the-shit, my mum was generally really good about it. Funny thing was, the other guy was just COMING from the doctor, and he was leaving for Paris the next day (ull see why thats funny)
Ironically enough, Girgis' sister had an accident the exact same spot, the same time the next morning. Not her fault though, and she's alright.
Mum and I spent the next day cleaning the house like crazy. My studio actually looks like a studio, with a wonderful balance of music and design (considering it goes from being wholey dedicated to one or the other) and the house looks like new.
Why? Because this morning we picked up my brother from Paris, who's been away almost exactly a year. Had a great crazy catch up and mum's been giddy all day. She spent the morning unpacking a Samirai Doll from my uncle in Japan, and now the whole house has been asleep for the past 3 hours. This weekend has been pretty refreshing and adventurous.
oh! and Happy Birthday Henri!!! We all went to the Lowenbrau last night for his 25th birthday. Wish I could've stayed longer, I was having a blast. I'll post some photos on my flickr account...
