The Zion chronicles ch.1

'Come with me and will teach you wondrous things…'

Those were the words Yoochun wanted to hear…he was young and adventurous. He was a knight in the service of Prince Minnie. He was absorbed in his art often and was always accompanied when he wish to explore the countryside in search of inspiration. He could make a picture seem alive. He sighed; the fair one would never notice one such as him. Surely the fair one had a companion. After all he himself was mortal what good could come of loving someone who would remain the same as you aged? He smiled and greeted the guests. It would never do to allow his mood to affect such a happy gathering.

Junsu was tired of standing out and cloaked his wings, he returned in a different costume. His flowing golden-red hair cascading down his back and his eyes sparkled.

Yoochun recognized him and once, he bowed slightly, “My lord, might I fetch you a drink or a plate…” he wished to serve this wise one.

He had been recognized; he frowned, “I thought I had disguised myself well…”

Yoochun smiled, “Your eyes and your hair gave you away. Your face is young but your eyes are filled with wisdom.” he turned to hide his blush.

Junsu curtsied, “My young knight, if you would accompany an old man it would please me.”

Yoochun started to protest but thought better of it, he offered his arm, “How might I assist you my lord…”

“To the gardens, sometimes even a fairy has enough of social gatherings.”

They walked arm in arm to the garden, Yoochun escorted him to a bench surrounded by roses, “Does this serve your purposes my lord….”

“Indeed,” he patted the bench, “Sit with me. It has been a long time since I truly talked with anyone. HeeChul is fading and my kin are gone. The world in changing and soon we shall be forgotten “

“No…it won’t happen. There are still people who believe in you. Faith is believing in what you can’t see. I see you, I can touch you.” Yoochun rested his hand on the fairy’s, “As long as one person believes isn’t that enough…”

Junsu patted his head, “Young one, you are wiser then you look. Perhaps the few that are left have a chance…” he did not believe his own words; his magic and his soul were tied to the world. It was changing; moving on, the world no longer needed those with such a connection to its life. His magical kin were dying because they were unlike the other creatures that inhabited this world. Fairies were the youngest spawned from the laugh of the first babe; dragons, unicorns, dryads, nymphs and naiads. Naiads were mermaids but they were going back to the sea, the sky no longer held joy for them. They could all feel I the earth changing, it was man’s time…magic was being forgotten. It had served it purpose…

Yoochun frowned, “You don’t believe me do you…”

“I wish I could…but fairies are wise. I am the last. We are the last…within a hundred years we will fade from memory and pass away. Reduced to legends and myth, magic as I know it will cease and something else will take its place.”

Yoochun stopped him, “Please…I don’t want to hear anymore. I won’t forget. Any children I raise will always believe. I would never forget…”

Junsu smiled sadly, “You are also the last of a dying breed…”

“No…I just…want to know so much. Perhaps you can teach me…”

“What can a fairy teach a human…what could a human teach a fairy…”

Yoochun kissed him, “I could teach you how to live…”

Junsu had never been kissed; fairies dance, sang and played but they never shared the gift of love. He was astonished for a moment before he kissed him back…no harm in examining this concept.

Yoochun moved closer, his hands reaching into the darkness and with his heart he searched. His hand found a wing, he caressed it gently, it wasn’t feathered but it was delicate.

Junsu moaned softly, his lips parting as he felt the light touch. There was something special about this human…this man…

Yoochun took his hand, “Come with me…let me teach you…”

Junsu followed Yoochun; it had been many years since he saw the boy last. He had been a young child waving a sword determined to be a knight. Now he was a man…and he was a beautiful as a rainbow.
