My friend,Marcie, is an Equine Massage Therapist and I've been helping her out this year traveling around the area to different barn to hold the horses and to deflect teeth and hooves away from her. I've been to some pretty amazing stables around the area and have worked on some absolutely lovely horses.

Yesterday Marcie had new client and wanted me to tag along because we didn't really know what to expect. The Stables are owned by an incredibly wealthy woman, and we were expecting to be treated like dirt as some of the other stables treat us in the area. I must admit though, these were some of the nicest people I have met in awhile! I feel really embarrassed at my earlier thoughts about the place.

The farm is absolutely STUNNING! Nestled in the valley completely surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, it's nearly impossible to find an area that isn't picturesque. The lawn is perfectly manicured with sculpture gardens and fountains, the ground littered with an array of color flowers. There were at least 4 barns that we saw, but with the farm being over 1000 acres, I am positive there are more. The house is an old plantation manner set with big thick fluted columns that support the wrap around porch. (next time I go I will DEF have my camera ready and poised!)

The main barn was the best part. Stalls were only in the center back-to-back, I didn't count how many were in there- but it was a lot, and the whole outside aisle was the indoor ring that is large enough for them to take their four-in-hand Friesian teams through and circle nicely in any given spot. I was trying not to let my jaw hit the floor! I absolutely LOVED the footing in there too! Shredded rubber, so there was absolutely NO dust kicked up when the horses worked.

We worked on one of their Friesian two-in- hand teams to try and get them ready for the Friesian show up in Lexington that starts next week (which I can't wait to go see!). The horses were lovely and very well mannered, and were a joy to mess around with. We were promised that next time we go there we'll be given a grand tour of the place, which made Marcie happy because that means they want her to come back :)

After we finished and poked around the barn for bit we both announced we wanted a barn just like that that one! (It's even HEATED in the winter!!!)

Once we left Marcie was talking about the Jason Aldean concert at 7:30 and how excited she was when she got a text from her friend Sarah saying that she could no longer go, leaving Marcie with an extra ticket. Not wanting to let the extra ticket go to waste she asked if I wanted to go, and even though I'm not a huge country music fan I said yes. I'm glad I went! It didn't matter if I didn't know the music or the singer; he put on a really excellent performance. I had a blast with Marcie and her friend Jessie! After the concert we hit up Denny's for some really awful food. I mean really, it's really hard to mess up scrambled eggs people!!! hee hee
