Yay!

Phoenix was perfect tonight!  He lunged both directions walk/trot then trot/walk and stopped on a dime at whoa :D :D :D  I was very pleased with him!

After I messed around with Phoenix I halted Solana and led her around the field.  She did pretty well and only got pissy with me once. I think I'm going to start taking her out of the field so she can get used to her surroundings a bit more.  I'm happy with her progress, but I wish it were a little further along.  With Phoenix it really didn't take too long for him to trust me and he wanted to learn.

Solana is cynical about everything.  I've been trying to work with her to pick up her feet, but I'm getting no where with that.  Well, I should say at first she would fly forward and knock me over if I tried to touch a foot.  Once she got reamed for that several times, then the flew backwards.  She had several more 'come to Jesus' meetings.  I can TOUCH her legs and feet now, but if I try to pick up a foot she just falls on me.  After she did that a few times I attempted to loop a lead rope around her pastern and raise her leg that way.  She still decided to fall over.  I haven't tried to mess with her feet in about a month or so.  I decided it was a little more important to work on  getting her to let me catch her and lead her, so now that that seems to be going smoothly I'm back to the whole pick on feet problem :\

I have two people interested in leasing Solana for a breeding program, and I'm really hoping someone decides to take her.  I think I'd really rather focus my time on Phoenix for the time being and let someone who knows a little more about problem horses deal with her!

(I thought I had a picture of all the horses together but it seems to have poofed!)
