Disclaimer-Characters belong to Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz. No copyright infringement intended. Any similarity to events or persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Title borrowed from the song written by... apparently long-dead Germans.

Author's Notes-Written initially as part of the 10-song meme... but I decided I like being able to edit things and so I stole it from the middle of this huge partnership thing, and voila. ...I'm sure you know what song was playing when I wrote it... Also, big thanks to Basched for taking a look. ;)

Spoilers-Um... None.

Mack the Knife-It was a dull night in the Castle.

“I'm sorry, did you just call that gun by a name?”

He glanced up, narrowing his eyes over at her. “What about it?”

“I'm just... intrigued, I guess,” she said casually.

It was a dull night in the Castle. They were doing routine weapon care and maintenance. It was part of Casey's regimented Marine lifestyle, one that seemed often at odds with the spy-side.

“Do all of them have names?”

He cleared his throat. “No.”

“Don't the others get jealous?” she asked playfully.

“Very funny,” he said, focusing doubly on reassembling his SIG-Sauer sidearm. “You telling me you don't occasionally call them something other than 'gun'?”

Sarah didn't answer right away.

When she didn't, he looked up, snapping the slide into place. “Well, Walker?”

“I might have, very rarely, given a name or two to a knife,” she admitted.

“Oh?”

“Usually it's just called deadly,” she said with a smile.

“You're mocking me? Really?”

“C'mon, you called it baby!”

“She's a good girl; she takes care of me. Why not?”

Sarah shrugged and leaned forward in her chair, reaching for her favorite silver blade in the back waistband of her pants. She'd never ever tell Casey its name was Mack.

End.
