Update 15

The most wonderful thing has happened for me, though it's probably not so good for farmers or the places that flood.  After a week or so of uncomfortably summery temperatures, we've got grey cloudy skies and rain.  Thunder and maybe even a bit of lightning, but look!  Rain!  Lots of rain!  It's cool enough to wear trousers!  My skin isn't sticking to everything plastic!  I don't have to keep all chocolate in the fridge simply to prevent it from puddling on the floor!  This is good for me, because editing and redrafting and organising myself for Yuletide goes much smoother when I can drink a nice hot cuppa.  You'd be surprised how summer can ruin that for a person.  I got quite lucky with my assignment, so things have been good all round.

I know I've said this a few times, but I have given up on caring, that little bit, about the Slayers fanbook.  Not that I dislike it (I'm still feeling really excited about the book itself), but there has just been a lot of delays and a lack of information regarding whether we'll see it this year or not.  I'm on a budget, I have to shop for Christmas, and so it's pretty likely that if it comes out within the next three months I won't be able to afford a copy.  My food budget each week is about half the anticipated cost of the fanbook, you see.  I really do hope that I can beg a digital copy off the organisers so that I have something to remember it by.

In other serendipitous news, I have discovered something slightly amusing and slightly creepy.  When I assumed the username kurushi many years ago I was unaware that I shared that name with a PS1 video game.  I haven't played the game.  I have discovered that some game cheat/code websites have rss feeds displayed at the bottom of the game-specific pages, showing all google searchable websites that mention the game.

You can see where this is going.  Somewhere out there, there are baffling newsfeeds of my fan activity confusing gamers.  I'm torn.  I could make myself harder to find, but I'm a pretty small name fan and I oddly enough publish fanfiction online for it to be found and read.  I probably could satisfy myself if I just posted more of my things in appropriate communities, but I'm quite lazy and also a procrastinator at heart.  So I think I'll put off taking any action until I can be arsed thinking about it.

As to actual writing news, Yuletide.  Yuletide is pretty consuming.  I still have those backup chapters of TAoSK ready and waiting for deployment.  I've got some feedback on my Hellsing one-shot and am looking for some more before I do a final draft and publish.  Slayers ficlet of tiny minuscule negligible length will be in fanbook escrow for who knows how long.  Outside of all this I've made a bit of headway on some Read or Die drafts that've been sitting around forever.  As anticipated, I've spent a long time reading background material for AA and I'm wondering whether anyone else in the world aside from Yasuhei will be well-read enough to get through the whole thing.  Yasuhei has actually suggested that I find or make summaries for the characters and plotlines that I focus on in the chapters, so that people who don't want to read hundreds of books can just pick it up as they go.  Whatever happens, it is far off in the future.
