BOOOOOOOOOKS!

I haven't slept well all week due to crazy dreams and Tom being sick and snoring. Every time I stand up I feel dizzy.

On the plus side, I took a day off of uni work to wander aimlessly with Linz. We ate food, and I once again showed my ability to accidentally find bookstores. It's always hard when I'm in an unusual area, and it's much harder to resist a new store than it is a store I'm already aware of.

So there's this wonderful small new bookstore, can't remember its' name, something cute and somewhat pretentious, just around the corner from Silo bakery in Kingston. Then in the middle of this complex is a nice, small, old bookstore. Secondhand and with a generic name, like 's books. I got a Steinbeck and a Crestomanci short story for $5, and the bookstore lady looked at the titles for a minute, then gave me a very re-assessing look.

"You've made some very good choices." She said, and then smiled. We chatted for a while until Linz got bored.

Then I came home to shepherd Tom to the doctors. Once he was in I couldn't help but run off to Lawson's, cos the guy who runs it is really nice and the woman who works there gives me lollipops.

For $18 I got another Umberto Eco, Theophrastus (Loeb, so very much worth it), and Hackers the Movie book, which is trashy and godly and awesome. On the front it says, in crappy type, "Boot up or Shut up!".

And I got to show the owner The Mysterious Flame Of Queen Loana, which he hadn't read, but by all means should. You all should. Just make sure you get a copy that has all the pretty pictures in it. It's an illustrated book, by Eco, about a man who deals in rare books and suffers amnesia. He can brush his teeth and quote books all day, but has no idea who he is. He reconsrtucts himself using books and comics from his childhood.

Anyway, I'm off to force myself through more uni work, and to clean up after Tom's cold (tissues, empty cups etc).

aporeomai, uni, books, sick
