Harmony Day
Above the sky was darkened in an extended night, the sun nothing but a black dot outlined in a bright white ring. Today marked another three years on Elrios, and as such, the continental Harmony Day celebration began. The team had been in Fieta at the time, but Fieta was such a small village and Bethma was right there next to them, that it was decided that the Fieta residents would join the Bethma residents for the festival.

All around the joyous noise of celebration raged. Children were shrieking and laughing, chatter of all kinds abuzz in the air. Little torches lit that castes everything in a soft, warm, orange glow; and adding to the ever array of color were the traditional Bethma outfits worn for the day. All bright colors and an array of particular patterns.

Watching everyone from the sidelines, a little spot near a patio like area looking over the mountains, Elsword reached to rub at his upper arm. The amount of energy in the atmosphere making his runes pulse; they almost ached.

“You okay?”

Blinking, Elsword looked to his side to see Chung holding out a bright red plastic cup out at him; probably filled with water as sweetened drinks would just make him sick with the amount of El around.

“Yeah.” Elsword said, taking the cup. It was filled with water, just like he thought. “I'm just... restless.”

“Mmmm” Chung leaned up against the rail and drank from his own cup. “Aisha's kinda the same way. She's been dancing most of the festival.”

Elsword grimaced; frowning down at his water.

Chung frowned along with him, slightly troubled.

“Elsword... What's really wrong?”

Elsword rubbed at his arm again. “Not only do I feel restless, but I feel uneasy and stiff; like I've got too much blood running through me, or something. I would dance, but I don't want to step on someones foot.”

“That's it!?” Chung felt his eyebrows rise to his hair line in surprise. He'd been with Elsword and the others since he was13, now he was 17, and he knew that Elsword could dance; and Elsword could dance well. He'd seen him do so at the Harmony Festival three years prior.

“Hey!” Elsword blushed, embarrassed and indignant. “Plus...” Elsword rubbed at his arm again. “My runes have been distracting me.”

Chung let out a thoughtful hum. He looked Elsword over and then looked around the area. Finding a potted plant, Elsword watched Chung pour his remaining water into it and then throw the cup away in a nearby trash bin.

“Is it because of all the El energy around?”

Elsword shrugged. “Probably. They've never bothered me like this before though, but I do find it likely as it's today of all days that they are bothering me.”

There was a pause between them, just a tiny moment of silence.

“Hey, Elsword...”

“Hm?”

Chung turned to Elsword then, all grins and something akin to mischievousness in his eyes. Elsword felt himself tense in uncertainty. However, the moment passed and Chung's expression melted into something soft.

Chung extended a hand, smiling. “Dance with me?”

Elsword's immediate thought was to decline; feeling as though Chung was making fun of him. Instead, Elsword found himself hesitating. Chung may have had his moments where he would indeed poke fun at him, but this... this wasn't one of those times. Elsword rubbed at his arm again. A moment passed and Elsword sighed; throwing his cup away.

“Okay.” He conceded, hesitatingly taking Chung's hand.

Grinning, Chung pulled Elsword close to him. In fact, he pulled them so close together that Elsword found himself flustered, a slight dusting of red on his cheeks.

“I won't mind if you step on my feet you know.” Chung said smiling, leading them to where the bonfire was set up.

Elsword let out a huff and stuck his tongue out at him.

Chung shook his head, chuckling, but his hand squeezed Elsword's and Elsword found himself squeezing back; a smile on his lips a sense of comfort settling over him.

The bonfire was high, the flame towing over them like the mountains surrounding the village. All around the dancers stamped their feet to the beat of the drums as they twisted and turned around each other.

With a grin, Chung wasted no time pulling them into the fray of dancers.

Elsword felt disoriented when they started. He stumbled a bit, stepping on Chung's feet a few times that made him frown each time he did it. Chung, however just smiled, placed them into position, and continued on. Each time Chung did that, Elsword felt himself smile too; grateful that Chung really didn't seem to mind. Comforted by Chung's patience, Elsword had felt himself relax. His restlessness and stiffness melting away as they danced.

The light of the fire, it's heat rolling over the plaza in waves, brought about a light sheen of sweat upon their skin. How long had they been dancing? Neither really knew, and Elsword really didn't care; he was enjoying himself. There was no stiffness, no uneasiness. In fact, he felt lucid, like those moments between sleep and waking up. However, there was something else; true while all the dancing did disperse the excess energy he had, something rolled across his skin.

“Elsword.”

Elsword blinked blearily as Chung pulled him up from a dip. “Hm?”

Chung didn't say anything, merely stared for a moment. Elsword tiled his head to the side and was about to ask what was wrong, but shivered before he could get the words out. Chung had trailed a hand up his arm and was caressing the skin where his rune lay with his thumb.

“They're glowing.” And there was a little bit of awe in his voice; mystified.

Elsword blinked; his head fuzzy, he really didn't register what Chung had said. Little shocks traveled across his skin from where Chung was touching his arm, making his fingers twitch. It actually felt really pleasant, comforting, which really didn't help his already lucid state. Then their eyes met and a fire swept through him; a rush of heat that made his heart pound. It was electric, whatever it was, that made him feel a bit jumpy. Chung was just staring at him, his hand still on his arm; and the moment hung.

Then the gong rang.

It made both of them jump. Elsword blinked. Chung blinked. And, maybe the moment would have been awkward, but when they met each others gaze they laughed. Around them the people where chattering, excited. The both of them couldn't help but let that energy pass on to them as well as they smiled gently at each other.

The gong signaled that the festival was coming to an end. This would be the last dance, and not just any dance like before. The Harmony dance, a special dance for this special day where they danced as the moon moved away from the sun. People were already coming in droves and packing into the plaza to participate.

“Dance with me?” Chung asked.

“Of course.” Elsword smiled and wove his fingers through Chung's. What need was there to hesitate or say no?

Once the final gong sounded it was total silence. Everyone in position, waiting with baited breath, tense with anticipation. Then a single drum beat, the moon moved just a bit to let in a sliver of sunlight, and the dance began.

Twisting and turning about each other to the beat of the drums, they couldn't keep their eyes off one another. Although it was normal to pay attention to your partner, there was that electric feeling from before, a pull. Every brush made Elsword shiver, Chung smile, and when they got close it was like a sitting next to a fire. And as the dance winded down to something slower, the light in the sky that of dawn, Elsword noticed that soft expression on Chung's face again, gazing right at him.

Elsword's heart pounded.

The drums slowed and the gongs started up again. With the moon almost all the way out of the sun's light, it was the end of the dance. The last move had them pull each other close and as the looked into each others eyes, Elsword felt his heart pumping like he was in the middle of battle with an adrenaline high. Chung was looking at him, so many emotions on his face, but most prominently was that of uncertainty.

Does Chung...? Oh boy. Elsword felt his breath catch. It was kinda of a tradition, but him? Why him? He bit his lip then and his own uncertainty made Chung pull back. Chung had a smile on his face, but Elsword could see the disappointment on the other males face. This just made him bit his lip a bit harder and look toward the ground.

“We should-” Chung cut himself off when he felt how hard Elsword was gripping his hand. And when Elsword looked up, eyes ablaze with determination, Chung had no time to even get a thought across as he was pulled forward.

The moon had fully moved away from the sun, its light brightening the sky and warming the earth. Around them people cheered, and loud popping noises ringing as people pulled out streamers. Glitter and confetti fell everywhere, piling up on the street and people alike, and all the while Chung and Elsword could care less.

Wrapped up in each other arms and lips pressing together insistently, how could they pay attention to what was happening around them? After a few moments, when they needed to breath, they pulled back. Breathless and panting they stared at one another.

“Wow.” Chung uttered wide-eyed and then his whole face turned cherry.

Elsword laughed, but there was a blush on his cheeks as well.

With Elsword smiling, Chung couldn't help but smile too, and twining his hand with Elsword's he looked to the sky. Elsword followed his gaze to the sky as well.

They would probably sleep the day away and stay in Bethma for the night, but when the next morning came, Elsword knew that they would make their way back to Feita and onwards to the ever present demon problem. But, with the sun's light so bright and Chung's warm hand in his, he couldn't help but think...

Things are going to be okay.
