“Devoted”
By: Nyago
Winry POV
I didn’t think about it when Ed asked me to get Grandma, Den and myself out of Amestris, fearing he might loose us. I took pride in knowing I didn’t run away and I knew he would make a stop to whatever evil plans Father had. But this morning…I was being feeling a bit uneasy.
Like a dark cloud was blooming and ready to explode at any given second…
As time ticked, the feeling grew worst…what if I should I have taken Ed advice? Why did I so stubbornly refuse it..? Was it for my pride? I like to think it wasn’t…maybe because I wanted Ed to know I was here, maybe I wanted him to fight harder knowing I was here. Because even though I could never fight in the battle grounds like those two…the least I could try to do is stay here until their return.
To a home, with a loving family waiting for their expected arrival...
--
The house shook, as Den began to bark obsessively around the house. Something was up…Winry had a feeling it wasn’t good. “What’s going on…?” She mumbles to no one in particular.
“Winry!” Grandma yelled, as she tries to reach the bottom of the basemen where her grand daughter is taking shelter for the time being.
“I’m down here!” She yells, something not right…why does her heart hurt? Why does her body feel so light? “Ah..!”
“Winry!?” Pinako yells as she tries to hurry but stumbles a bit. “Uh…”
Winry slowly begins to fall down, trying her hardest to stay awake. She recognize her grandmother voice, but sounding so far away…’What’s going to happen...’
As she hears her dog whine and her grandmother fall to the corner of the room, Winry eyes began to close. ‘I’m so tired…’ She tries to fill her arm, took much energy to do so and barely makes it. “E….(d)…” she mumble her final words… ‘I’m sorry..’ as darkness took over her.
-End-
To clear Winry name (since everyone decide HEY LETS BASH HER BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T LEAVE! :D) I wanted to point out, it wasn’t pride that made Winry stay, or rather…it was more of making Ed fight harder for everyone. At least that’s the way I view it. Beside, I honestly think Winry at one point (after whole military using her) felt that she like a damsel in distress, when total opposite, she wasn’t. But I fear she might have stay because she wanted the boys to come back to a home with people not without them.
Hence why I name this fic “Devoted” It was devotion to stay so when the boys decide to come back after it was over, she would be there to greet them. Comment are very very very much appreciate and welcome!
