Yay! The Convention insanity is finally over. In two months I had four events, each with its own costuming requirements. I can finally take a short break before diving back into the sewing and trying to figure out how to use my new surger.
There's still a couple of events (Otakuthon, Toronto Island Cosplay Picnic, Wonderland) over the summer that I want to attend, but no solid plans yet. (Well, I've purchased my ticket for the Toronto Zelda Symphony Concert, I just need to find a couch/floor to sleep on.)
Meanwhile the costume plans continue:
- Otakuthon/Toronto Island: Himwari Butterfly Loli (xxxHolic)
- Zelda Symphony: Tetra (Windwaker)
- Random: Avengers!Hawkeye inspired jacket (designed by me, still un-scanned in sketchbook)
- Random: Loki Loli by pinkstripedmellon
- Random: Green Arrow Jacket by Asterous Fashion (provided I can find a good pea-coat weight green)
- AnimeNorth 2013: LeiLei/Hsien-ko (Darkstalkers) I figure I need a year to figure out those hands. Because I may need to make them collapsible to get them to Toronto. (Also, I need time to figure out that cleavage. Damn boobie windows.)
On top of that, I have a small hat commission (mid June), a possible X-Men Storm commission for FanEx (Late August), and friends want help with various sewing things over the summer. My life is my sewing machine for the next while it seems.
And on top of all the costuming/sewing things, I also want to redo my website. As I really haven't touched it for five years and figure I should make it more of a cosplay site and less of an art/sketch site. Which leads to (one of) my current dilemma: do I keep the username/alian kurumasha (bad otaku/weeabo pun: 車シャ, which could also be read ShaSha), or do I change it to something else. And if I do change it, what do I change it to. I really haven't had any nicknames other than Sha (which is too short to use anywhere), so dilemma.
And finally, post-con/general blues. I get such a high from spending a weekend hanging with friends and running around and feeling useful at AnimeNorth that the weeks following are always a little blue. This year it's hitting a bit more than usual due to some stuff locally (not invited to things and finding out post-event; friendships drifting apart faster than I thought; wondering why I'm always the one who has to make plans for non-group meet-ups), which is exasperated by unemployment and way to much time to dwell on stupid things. Also, helping out with the Anime North Masquerade has me wanting to help more, and maybe officially staff/volunteer, but I feel there's so little I can help with by being in a different city. And the local Ottawa con that I'm willing to help with doesn't seem to need anyone beyond the minion status, which I prefer not to do. (After being a director/god, it's hard to step down to minion in a section/size-of-con you're used to working.) But yeah, general blaaaaah going on. It'll probably improve in a week or so, but just kinda blue right now.
