Aaaaand now I have backstory and framing. Sort of.

I fumbled my way into a realization that I could set up a really cool framing device for my Calvin-in-Temeraire-verse fic. Everybody knows that one poem of William Blake's, right? But no-one ever quotes the second verse.

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

Which gives me a title, assuming my Latin isn't more horrible than I think it is: Carpe Incendia. And maybe I have backstory for Calvin's father, after a fashion, and know why Calvin is so fascinated with the the distant and the fantastical. The question now is whether I want this to be moderately dark and serious, or aim for the whimsical insight that so typified the comic.

Also, I need plot. *amused eyeroll*
