Yesterday when I was looking at tickets for Southwest, the flight from San Jose to Phoenix was minimum $99 and from Phoenix to Providence was minimum $179. Today, comparatively, it's $79 and $119. Timing is totally everything; that price drop saved me $80+ because of taxes and fees. My tickets are now bought, for the grand total of just under $220 round trip.
*nods contentedly* One less problem to worry about. Now to find out a good affordable place to rent a car with no mileage limit and good mileage from Phoenix...
Also, on
bigsciencybrain's recommendation, I'm considering swapping the stop at Capitol Reef for Zion National Park.
The new route will probably mean I'll be better able to enjoy the sights and vistas, too -- at least 3 hours less driving on the day I leave the Grand Canyon, and most likely an easier time going up I-15 and I-70 than it would've been to go Hwy 89 to Hwy 62 to Hwy 24. I've driven Utah backroads before, and they can be a bit twisty and narrow. Gorgeous, mind you, but... well, most of Utah east of the salt flats is. *grin*
