Chance comments.

A chance comment from a co-worker led me to investigate the possibility of taking the Boston-to-Provincetown ferry, early July 5th -- and you know, I think that's what I'm going to go for. I'll get the fantastic coolness of taking a ferry -- which I was kind of looking forward to with the Nantucket ferry, but I was worried about making it there in time -- along with riding down along the length of Cape Cod.

Additionally, it's only 47 miles (ha! I say that so blithely...) along the Cape from Provincetown to Hyannis (my original off-to-Nantucket destination), so I think I can catch the early fastferry (leaving Boston at 8:00 am), be at Provincetown by 9:30, have a leisurely ride down the Cape to lunch in Hyannis or wherever. With my original plan, I would've needed to be up and biking probably before 7 am, so as to make it the 75 miles from Boston to Hyannis before the 1:55 ferry to Nantucket.

I definitely like this plan better. It'll have more in the way of actual relaxation. And after I have lunch in Hyannis at 12 or 1-ish, I can catch a movie or keep biking westwards towards Wareham and beyond. Maybe I'll manage to get far enough that I won't have to quite die of exhaustion on my bike the third day out, as I make my way towards New London. *grin*
