Debate in Philadelphia tonight.

I'm busy watching the Democratic debate between Clinton and Obama. It's... interesting. I'm admittedly going into this leaning strongly towards Obama. I'm going to update with my reactions soon. : )

ETA: They opened with a suggestion from Mario Cuomo -- that each of them vow to accept the other as their Vice President, or something, should they win. I don't really think that's all that viable a possibility, though. They may make up afterwards, but I think there's too much rancor and water under the primary bridges to have that really work.

Ahhh, and they're bringing up the "bitter" comment again. Except, y'know, a lot of people ARE bitter -- that's TRUTH. And the pundits seem to have been focusing on this to the exclusion of much else.

ETA 2: Randomly... why does Hillary's hair look kind of plastic-y?

ETA 3: Hillary just adroitly sidestepped the "do you think Obama can beat McCain in the election?" question. Thankfully, the moderators followed up and forced her to answer the question.

ETA 4: Barack went straight to the basis of the question, though. He went on to illuminate some past observations, how things need to change, and how Hillary seems to have taken the wrong lesson away from her past experiences facing the Republican political machine.

ETA 5: Aaaaaand they've brought up the Reverend Wright remarks. C'mon, moderators, how about some questions about ACTUAL policies and "how would you react to this?"

ETA 6: Why are most of these pointed questions and non-issues being aimed at Obama? Why don't they ask Clinton about her made-up story of dodging sniper fire in Bosnia if they're going to keep the focus on things that really don't matter to national or international affairs?

... oho. HAH. They just did.

ETA the last: OK, seriously, that was the most boring "debate" I've ever seen. Most of it was the commentators trying time and again to trip Obama up -- with BitterGate, with ReverendGate, with FlagPinGate, again and again and freaking again. No real questions to both candidates about important issues like, say, IRAQ. Or the Bush administration's embrace of torture. Or the economy. Or the realty and credit crisis. Or healthcare. C'mon, that was a sham of a "debate", and those moderators should be thrown into the Delaware tied to an anchor for further tainting the reputations of political pundits everywhere.

Meh.
