Green's Oak's grandson so it makes sense to keep as a valuable hostage, but Red? I guess it's as a bind for Green, the same principle that if you want to let a lovebird out of a cage but doesn't want it to fly away you keep its companion (friend, mate or sibling) in the cage while it's out so it'll always fly back to the caged companion, but humans are often much more selfish than small parrots and with the kind of trainings the children were going through, soon the threats of harming Red won't work on Green anymore. Archer can crush Red with that onix for all Green can care (if the remove-emotion conditioning is successful). So what are the people of Team Rocket thinking? They are just screwing themselves over. Fear alone cannot hold down a person for long. There must be both fear and attachment to keep one in line. Organisms are programmed for surviving, but when the despair is too great there's also this innate impulse of self-termination in really extreme case. Sacrifice is an in-built feature in us. To get one thing we can ( ... )

I wanted to type a long comment on how you nailed my headcanon of Green/Red relationship (that they are not gay but in a maligned version of codependency), but now all I want to ask is "what about Silver?" Green is like a surrogate son to Giovanni now. He's spoiling the kid by his own definition. What about his own son? And is Silver his real son anyway? You see, if I'm not remembering anything wrong, in PokeSpe, Giovanni's bloodtype is O and Silver's bloodtype is AB. Biologically speaking, that's impossible and Silver cannot be his biological son. That means either Giovanni didn't know Silver was his son, that Silver was an important-ish adopted son or Silver was genetically assembled or something (or why else he had the special power of reading life force when he wasn't a Viridian Child as he wasn't born in the right time or the right place?) And you know what? Red's bloodtype is O. And they had a scene where they acted like father and son (Vs. Magmar) and later when they confronted Giovanni expressed that he liked Red and wanted to ( ... )

I think that's why I'm so drawn to Green and Red. That codependence fascinates me, and I guess I continuously attempt to work out my own experiences with dependencies by writing the two of them. It doesn't always shine through in my fics, but I always write them with the idea of their relationship being caused by an unhealthy codependence in mind.

As for Silver...

All I can say in answer to that is:

I don't know yet.

I have two possible scenarios planned for Silver, and I haven't decided which of them I'm actually going to implement yet.

The first mention of Silver is made next chapter (Act II), which is currently being beta'd. It's just a mention, because I'm sort of breaking the canon continuity to preserve it later on, but it's in the chapter after that one (the one I'm writing now) that Silver actually makes his first appearance. Quite a few characters are going to be introduced (or re-introduced) over the next few chapters - Ariana, Domino, Leaf, Professor Oak - but Silver is one of the foremost among them.

He is going to ( ... )
