Well, that's two weeks of vacation done. Back to work tomorrow (well, really today) morning.
What was I up to? A bunch of relaxation, but I have taken two trips to my folks house over the past month. First one was really for the purpose of attending my cousin Vadim's wedding. That was nice, got to see a bunch of relatives.
Second time was me going down for a few days to help my folks clean out their house in preparation for them showing it for sale. They've been in that house almost thirty years, and a bunch of stuff ended up in the cellar and "shed" (a back room off the back entry). I ended up going down a day later than I planned, but got some errands done. And managed to book the honeymoon.
So, I got to Westboro, and (I think, and my parents thought) that I kicked a lot of ass in helping clean stuff out. A dumpster makes that easier :) I also was somewhat of an outsider in the process, so I could keep my Dad moving when he was getting overwhelmed. There was still a lot to do when I left on Saturday (last Saturday) but I had planned on getting back Friday night originally, and I had managed to forget my CPAP machine, which is okay for the first night or two, but wears on you (with the not getting proper sleep).
I ended the trip by taking a bunch of digital pictures, which scandalized my mom some since I caught it mid-clean-out and it was messy. But, I felt I needed the pictures of the house I grew up in, and I couldn't take the chance that they manage to sell the house before I get back again. And besides, it may be completely empty when I get back, and won't be the same. (Heck, my Dad's already moved out and his room is empty so it's not the same now, or well, when I was there).
I've put in a bid with both parents to take the proceeds from the sale and come up this way. Prices are insane in MA, and they'll probably *each* have enough to buy a house out here in full. They don't seem convinced yet though.
Mark, my brother (
markem) is going to be my best man at the wedding. Picked out the tuxes today, Mark and I should look sharp. The ceremony and reception is going to be mostly family, as we have limited space at our ceremony site. Yes, we could have found a bigger site, but we cannot really afford much bigger :)
My car passed 175,000 miles on the first trip to MA and back. I'll need to look into replacing it soon.
Pamela and I planted 10 trees that her maid of honor Michelle gave us. So far, they look like sticks (Pamela says twigs) :) We have hope though :)
I am down 6 inches on my waist since I started dieting and trying to exercise more. Lost at least 22 pounds so far (possibly more). I've been using my new iRiver player with music and audiobooks to make the walks along the canal more pleasant. I'm actually overdue for another walk.
Well, that's about all for now, I'm sure I missed stuff, but I *do* actually have to go to work tomorrow.
