That night Kurt was ready to head home after work. It was hard to function or even thing after the whole Blaine and Eli thing. It was really hard, almost to the point he couldn’t breathe. He took a shallow, shaky breath as he looked at the trash can. He leaned down, grabbing the card and the flowers and headed home.
Rachel looked over when he opened the door to their apartment and she gave a small smile. “You alright?” She asked quietly. He could see the tear streaks down her face with the warped mascara, nearly lining her eyes.
He nodded quietly. “I… I’ll be okay.” He whispered, setting the flowers in the window sill and he grabbed a pair of scissors, cutting the xo xo xo, and propping the piece of card against the glass. “I don’t know if I can trust him… Ever again to truly be ‘mine’…” He whispered and Rachel sighed.
She walked over and handed him a glass of wine, matching her own. “We need a girls night.”
He nodded, accepting the glass as his own eyes brimmed with tears. They sat on the couch to watch The New Normal, and RuPaul’s Drag Race. “Hmmph… He texted me.” Rachel whispered, glancing at Kurt. “Wants to know how you’re doing.”
“Tell him to text me.” He said softly and then finished his glass quietly. He felt his phone vibrate and he looked at it.
‘Will I ever see you again?’ He frowned, knowing the logical answer.
‘Undoubtably.’ He sent back and sighed, not feeling much for having a true talk.
‘I do love you’ Blaine sent which caused a pang in Kurt’s heart.
‘I know… I love you too. I just don’t know if I can trust you. Never send me flowers at work again when you know they’re unwanted.’
‘I am sorry. I know you like grand gestures. I just want you to know I regret everything, and I don’t want to lose you.’
Kurt sighed, glancing at Rachel who was reading over his shoulders. ‘I’ll see you again Blaine. Until then… Do you think you can just masturbate and think of me?’
‘Yeah… Probably a safer way out.’
‘Probably Blaine.’
‘I love you Kurt. I’m so sorry.’
‘This isn’t over, it’s still not okay and I still can’t forgive you… But I do promise… that I’m trying. That I will keep trying. Because before the other night, you were my future. I don’t want to lose it either.’
‘No goodbyes. I get it. I’ll see you again.’
‘I’ll see you again.’ Kurt smiled faintly at the end of the conversation, his eyes flicking up to his best friends.
“I worry for you two.” She whispered and hugged him.
“God, Rachel. You have enough on your plate. I love you, but really, I feel like you need the cuddles.”
Rachel didn’t want to tell Kurt the wine came from Brody with a tag saying ‘I’m here for you.’
