Blaine looks around the kitchen, where everyone is now looking at him. "I, uh, kind of wanted to wait until I could ask his dad if it was okay."
Carole smiles. "Oh, aren't you just sweet?"
Kurt feels like he did when he slipped on the buttered floor in the choir room: breathless, kind of embarrassed, and really confused. "Wait, what?"
"Alright, everyone out," Burt says as he rinses off the cutting board. "Except Blaine. You three go somewhere and don't eavesdrop."
Instead of protesting, Kurt's herded to the hallway by Carole with Finn following closely behind them.
"What the hell just happened?" Kurt hisses to her.
"Blaine's scoring major points, that's what," Carole says, smiling. "I think he's a great kid, Kurt. He's polite, very sweet, really cute-"
Finn scrunches his noise at that. "Ew, Mom."
When Blaine comes into view, Carole smiles at him and Kurt and nudges her son toward the kitchen.
"So that's why you wanted to meet my dad so badly," Kurt says when it's just him and Blaine alone in the hallway.
"Yeah," Blaine admits. "Well, that and he just sounded like a really cool guy. I like your family."
"They adore you. I mean, I can't blame them. You're kind of charming, in case you hadn't noticed." Kurt smiles at him and leans back against the wall. "Don't you have something you'd like to ask me?"
Blaine smiles back and takes a few steps toward Kurt until he's right in front of him. "Will you be my actual, official boyfriend?"
"I don't know," Kurt teases. "You have my family convinced but I'm not so sure. You're kind of too good to be true sometimes."
"We both know that's a lie," Blaine says.
Kurt pulls him into a hug and kisses between his eyebrows. "True. You're kind of a snob sometimes. I can deal with that, though."
"Awesome because I think your dad kind of implied that he'd be at our wedding."
Kurt freezes. "What?"
Blaine chuckles and looks up at him. "Kidding. I'm kidding."
"You're not funny," Kurt mutters.
"Your dad thinks so."
"My dad also doesn't like sushi. The man's taste is questionable."
Blaine sticks his tongue out at him and Kurt kisses it. Just because he can. Also because sometimes the universe doesn't hate him as much as he thinks.
