Author's Note: So I was struck by this idea over the hiatus when a few other fics with similar themes popped up. It's a Royalty!Fic. This fic is unlike anything I've ever written. The tone, the pacing, the way the characters speak...it's all very new and experimental for me, and I hope you guys like it. Many, many thanks to my lovely beta alissablue for letting me hook her on Glee and Klaine and telling me this didn't suck. :D

Things are about to get interesting!

“Where have you been?” Carole nearly pounced on Kurt when he arrived home. It was nice to know he was not alone when it came to nerves. The prince's arrival at their home had sent them all into periodic fits, and it seemed Carole had chosen to have hers right then.

“To see Mercedes.” Kurt replied. “I wanted to let her know what was going on and that I wouldn’t be at the shop today. I told her about...she's very intrigued as well.” Kurt smiled as he thought about his best friend - everyone had been so sure they would wed - but she had chosen another man and gone into business with Kurt instead. Their clothing shop was one of the most frequented in town, and yet no one acknowledged that they shopped there. Kurt found it amusing when he was in a good mood, it made him incredibly angry when he was in a bad way. He peered around. “Has there been any word?”

“A footman arrived a few moments ago - the prince is on his way.”

“What could he possibly want with me, Carole?”

“I have no Earthly idea.” She brushed his hair back out of his eyes. “We shall have to see.”

“Have you any knowledge of Dalton? I confess that I do not remember much of geography from my schooling.”

“Naught but rumors.” Carole told him. “'Tis hard to say how much of it is truth.”

The sound of a carriage pulling into the yard filled their ears, and he gave Carole a panicked glance.

Together, they joined Burt and Finn in the sitting room, waiting for a knock. When it occurred, every one jumped, and Kurt began gnawing on his lower lip with his teeth.

Burt rose and made his way to the door, opening it to reveal three men.

“Mr. Hummel, I presume?” Kurt heard a voice, and closed his eyes against the sound. No man’s voice should sound that beautiful. He wondered if the speaker was indeed the prince, and what he looked like.

“Yes, Your Highness.” Burt replied, his voice gruff. “Do come in.”

“David, please see to the horses.” The same voice said, and then there he was, one of his guard on his heels

He looked royal.

He was the most handsome man Kurt had ever seen. Prince Blaine had dark, curly locks of hair and strong jaw, and eyes that pierced through Kurt upon his entrance to the room.

Time stopped.

Kurt was unable to tear his eyes from the prince. It seemed the prince was having the same issue as Burt struggled for his attention.

“Come, let me introduce you.” Burt gestured to where Carole, Kurt and Finn were sitting. All three automatically rose, Carole dipping into a curtsey while the boys bowed.

“This is my wife, Carole.” Burt said.

“We are unaccustomed to someone of your stature in our home, Your Highness. Please do excuse us.”

“Your home is lovely.” Blaine smiled, and Kurt felt his heart skip a beat.

“This strapping lad here is Finn, Carole’s son.” Blaine nodded at him. “And this is my son Kurt, whom your letter inquired about.”

“Hello.” Blaine spoke quietly to him. Kurt was unable to find words, simply staring into the prince’s eyes. “You have captivating eyes.” Blaine commented quietly.

“Thank you, Your Highness.” Kurt finally managed to mumble. He felt his face warm, and knew his skin must be red. Still, he could not help the smile that crossed his face at the prince's words.

Blaine smiled at him again, before turning to Burt.

“I wish to discuss this matter in private.”

“My study is through there.” Burt directed.

Kurt sank to the sofa, his whole body trembling.

“Oh, my.” Carole pulled out her pocket fan and flicked it open, waving it first at her own face and then at Kurt's. “Darling, you've gone all red.”

Words were still escaping him, and he could only try his best to regulate his breathing. He’d never wanted another man more than right this moment - this prince, this man, who had told him his eyes were captivating.

Kurt could feel the stares of his family as they waited for Burt and the prince to return. The wait seemed interminable, Kurt turning the entire encounter over in his mind.

Was it possible that the prince was the same as him? Did Prince Blaine prefer the company of men? It seemed almost too much to hope for. The sound of a door opening traveled into the sitting room, and Kurt forced himself to his feet.

The Prince swept into the room, a small smile on his face as he paused.

“It was lovely to meet you all.” He turned to Burt. “I shall await your reply.” Burt nodded, appearing stunned. The prince gave Kurt one last, long look, before sweeping out the front door and taking his guard with him.

Silence reigned over the room, Kurt desperate to ask his father what had transpire behind closed doors - yet terrified to do so.

“What did he want?” Carole asked, sounding breathless.

Burt stared at Kurt for a long moment before answering.

“Father, please.” Kurt startled himself by speaking. “Please, what did he want?”

“You.” Burt finally said. “He wants you.”
