The dreaded first post

“Why did you wait so long?”

It was a simple question, Fai had to admit that. Though, finding an answer that didn’t seem stupid or weak was a different story. Kurogane would expect an answer so there was no running or hiding, or even changing the subject (The ninja would bring it right back to the original topic anyway.) The man would get his answer even if it killed him.

He could remember those cold nights in Celes where he would sit in the window of his room, blanket wrapped tightly about him. He would watch the scenery with the hope that his knight would come. Sometimes he would imagine himself as Rapunzel, with her long, luxurious locks which her knight would climb to reach her.

When he would begin to feel sleepy, deciding that his knight would not come that night, he would lay in his bed, imagining himself as Sleeping Beauty or Snow White. Sometimes he would wish that he would be put into a magical sleep, only to wake with true love’s first kiss.

None of it would happen though, and Fai had spent many nights tossing and turning. Sometimes he wouldn’t even be able to sleep and would instead imagine what his knight would look like and how he would whisk him away from the castle. He had even gone as far as making a mental list of what he thought his knight would be like. Strong, fast, sure, and fresh from a fight.

“I was holding out for a hero.” He replied, going over his list once more.
