WAI, my turn! :D An updating compilation of the Round Robin entries, collected by the lovely Jezzra, can be found here:
http://kuroxfai.livejournal.com/1500616.html “Just a humble woodcutter and his lovely wife!” the voice answered. Kurogane blinked - this sounded suspiciously familiar- “Iyaa, honey, let me carry you, your skirt will get dirty!”
“It won’t,” a cool, female voice stated.
“But darling, it’s my duty as a husband to carry you across muddy puddles-“
“There are no muddy puddles.”
“The wood is full of mud and, love, see, if I lift you here, and here-“ a distinct whack rang out. “Oww! Honey, you’re beautiful when you’re mad…”
Honey obviously made it out without her husband’s help, and she stepped out of the high underbrush without so much as snagging her flowing, white dress. The man followed her, stumbling over a root, and ripping open his pants. He also pressed a hand to the growing bulge on his forehead. Those two. Kurogane let out a silent sigh and relaxed his posture.
“My name is Sorata and this is my sweetheart Arashi! And you must be Mokona’s friends, right?”
“They are Mokona’s friends!” the meatbun cried out happily wriggled out from behind Arashi’s neck where it had hidden in her hair and jumped straight at Kurogane. “It’s Fai and Kuro-honey!”
“It’s Kurogane,” the man barked in irritation and caught Mokona midair to hurl her back at Sorata. Mokona bounced off of his chest with a squeal and whined loudly at the man about Kurogane’s “cruelty.” Fai started laughing softly, only to cradle his midriff with a silent gasp. Kurogane scowled at him. Idiot.
“Syaoran and Sakura arrived earlier at our house and already told us you’ve been attacked,” Sorata lapsed into explanation mode while scanning the clearing and the scorch marks that the monsters had left behind. “Syaoran and Sakura told me they hadn’t heard of demons in this region, but it seems you automatically did the right thing - blow the whistle once if you’re being attacked, blow twice to signal that things cleared up.
“We just swarmed out to search for you when we heard the whistle. Well, seems like you held up well enough on your own… it’s a pity that you didn’t get to see my honey’s amazing abilities at purifying demons, though - she is so pretty when she is working magic!” Sorata crooned and petted his perfectly expressionless wife’s hair. Enthusiastically he lifted the silver whistle that hung from his neck and blew it twice. Answering noises sounded from all over the forest. “C’mon, honey, you have to blow yours, too!”
Arashi’s face was stony and her eyes instantly locked on Fai who was half-shielded by Kurogane’s body. “You need medical attention,” she calmly stated. A witch, Kurogane wondered, or a priestess?
“It’s nothing, just a scratch,” Fai smiled thinly. Kurogane glared at him which the mage ignored. He seemed exhausted.
“We should get out of here,” Kurogane said, urgency crawling in his chest. The forest behind him was weaving with blackness and it sent a shiver down his spine. “We’ve been constantly under attack ever since entering this… forest. Is the house you left the kids at safe?”
“Thanks to my wonderful wife,” Sorata nodded, but this time there was no jest to his voice. They started moving, the white-clad woman finding a way through the forest seemingly effortlessly and the men followed in her wake silently, as the light of the house bobbed in and out of view. Fai was walking in front of Kurogane, and one of his hands was back to hug his middle, steps slightly unsteady. He was uncharacteristically silent. Mokona watched him worriedly from where she sat on Sorata’s shoulder. Kurogane was not about to carry the mage when he could move on his own. He wasn’t.
“These demons - they haven’t been here for long, and my honey says they aren’t from this world,” Sorata said thoughfully, and as his profile turned in the moonlight there was a worried crease to his brow. “Up to now they’ve never been this aggressive. It seems you were attacked by a whole group, that usually doesn’t happen...”
What is up here, is something attracting the monsters? Tell us,
