we leave for Dragon*Con in the morning!
tonight I was at Bethany's and we made a last minute Target run and when we came back there was a cat in the parking lot of her apartment building. it came running right up to us when we called to it and was very friendly and wanted pettings. it was also very skittish and when a car started driving through the lot it dashed out in front of it, but luckily the person was paying attention and stopped and I ran and picked the kitty up. she was pretty skinny so we brought some cat food out for her and as she was gobbling it down, we were like, "what the fuck are we going to do with this cat???" it was too skinny and hungry to not be a stray, or if it did belong to someone then she has been out for a while. so we got her in the cat carrier and brought her inside (after locking Bethany's cats in the bathroom).
the Humane Society doesn't open until 10 in the morning and we have to leave at 10:30, so there was no way we could drop her off without risking missing our flight. then we had the bright idea to see if we could hand her off to someone else and give them money to take the cat to the shelter (you have to pay a fee to bring an animal in otherwise it goes to the pound instead of being put up for adoption). and who could we think of that loves cats and is a big enough softy to look after a stray cat for the night?
kat_food! so she has the kitty now and is either going to bring her to her vet's office (who might take in strays) or the shelter.
so in case you were wondering, Katharine is pretty much the awesomest person ever.
