Because my friend's neighbour is hooked with Second Life, out of curiosity I've checked it to see what kind of avatars you can make, and what exactly the game is about, since I don't really know much. It's some sort of virtual world where you have to pay even to breathe, isn't it?
Ciara-chan has warned me that the community is made of pure fail, as there are retards and wank in every single pixel. But that's custom and expected in western, English speaking communities; just look at LJ!
I've been checking some Japanese diaries like
this one, and as always, they know how to have fun in the game in more intelligent ways than LULZ TROLL P0RN U SUX DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA :)))))
They manage to make the game look interesting, just like they did with Ragnarok Online (while the American server I played in reached a level of retardness that was getting unbearable. Even one of the GMs left the game because of the stupid community). The point is that the game has the potential to be fun, regardless of what the western community does with it. It's a virtual world where you can, apparently, do many things and participate in mini games with friends, and decorate it as you like; it might sound silly, but I love giving shape to my ideal world!
So I don't know, I'm curious to try it out just to decorate my avatar, visit other maps, and plain ignore everyone. Just for fun (^^;
But if I think about it, there'd be no point in playing it without friends. It'd be like playing Sims, just uglier paying for every step I take, and without the possibility to create stories because I'd be completely on my own *sweatdrops*
It's the kind of thing I enjoy for 1 day because I just love playing with character creation devices, then I leave because I got bored already.
Bleh, I won't play it. But the idea sounds interesting anyway. Much better than IMVU, where you have 0% freedom.
